UW Medicine Finance-Population Health Analytics has an outstanding opportunity for a Population Health Analyst.  This individual will have the primary responsibility for the ongoing patient healthcare quality metrics and analytics for UW Medicine.  This position provides analyses for a variety of clinical quality programs including Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), internal performance measurement, grant support and direct clinical programs.  This position programs and creates monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual quality measure reports along with other adhoc analyses (inpatient and outpatients as programs revise and develop) for the health system.  This analyst will provide internal consulting services and technical/subject matter expertise UW Medicine system-wide in regards to healthcare quality metrics and analytics as they help UW Medicine health system and its affiliated entities understand the health of the populations of patients for which they provide services.
The Population Health Analyst is responsible for health care analyses ranging from Accountable Care Network metrics, PQRS metrics, utilization management and organizational improvement including performance and quality improvement (PI/QI) through to costing and reimbursement analytics.  The analyst works in conjunction with the Director of Population Health Analytics, other analysts in the department, analysts in Finance and Quality, the System Director for Quality Metrics, Medical Directors at each respective medical center or facility and various programmers from quality and information services. 


Bachelor's degree in an aligned discipline in health care, analytics, programming, computer sciences,mathematics, statistics, or associated discipline AND at least four (4) years of health care programming and analytics (preferably focused to quality), experience with various EHR (preferably Epic or Cerner). Tools include McKesson Performance Manager, Horizon Surgery Manager, Cerner, Epic, Caridigm (Amalga), visual display tools (ie Spotfire or Tableau).

Ability to use and research appropriate algebraic, applied mathematical, statistical and complex reasoning skill required for analytic work.

Strong independent propensity toward investigation and pursuit of understanding present state and future state; self determination.

Industry knowledge on quality metric like PQRS, HEDIS or any quality metrics for the inpatient or outpatient setting.  Conversant with medical coding including ICD9 & 10, MSDRG, APC, HCPC and other grouping logic used by CMS or health payors.

Medical terminology with understanding of clinical terms, language, coding and basic healthcare clinical terminology.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements. 


Master's degree preferred. Amiable people skills with ability to understand and deal with a technical, professional and clinical workforce.
