FIRMWARE ARCHITECT & DEVELOPMENT LEAD

 

THE ROLE:

The Product Security Organization is developing a new generation of secure kernel and operating environment that underpins every AMD product.   The Firmware Architect and Development Lead would work closely with industry security and firmware veterans to design, implement, and field a secure kernel, trusted applications, and support infrastructure for desktops, laptops, tablets, data centers, graphics cards, mobile devices.   The leader would organize and develop a team of firmware developers to deliver on the vision of an open, scalable, secure, measured, execution environment.

The role requires regular interaction with AMD customers, partners, AMD business units, and executives to keep multiple stakeholders involved and aligned.

 

THE PERSON:

Ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-learning engineer with a passion for the lowest level of understanding of secure kernels and securing the compute eco-system. Candidate should be self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. As one of the architects and lead you will be asked to explain in simple terms your work such that it can be understood by peers with less familiarity. You will also need to work closely with industry experts that will know more than you. Strong communication skills are very important.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead a team to design, develop, debug, field, and operationalize a secure execution environment for next generation AMD products.
  • Work closely with industry partners
  • Work closely with the open source communities, OCP, OSF, CCC, etc.
  • Able to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lead teams through complex debug and diagnostic scenarios
  • Deliver a secure-quality kernel with no weaknesses
  • Lead a team developing on a system simulator pre-silicon 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Secure operating system, TEE, microkernel
  • BIOS, firmware, or system software development
  • Strong Knowledge of PC and Server boot flows
  • Expert at C language; knowledge of assembly
  • Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU/APU architectures and associated compile tools
  • Familiarity with at least one BIOS code base (AMI, Insyde or Phoenix BIOS) preferred
  • Able to read and interpret system schematics.
  • Strong communication skills

  • BS-CS/BS-EE
  • MS-CS/MS-EE
