Full time opportunity to work as a Physician Assistant on our expanding general surgery service. Coverage model is 3- 13 hours shifts/ weekly with rotation to nights and weekend shifts. Join a team of experienced PAs caring for patients across several surgical specialties including trauma, acute care surgery, thoracic and general surgery.

Ideal candidate will be trained in all aspects of general, acute care and trauma surgery as well as thoracic, vascular and plastics. Candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team providing pre-and post-operative care of the surgical patient. First and second assist in OR as well as robotics training will be provided.
Candidate will be expected to obtain a DEA with in 3 months of beginning position.
Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

\rJob Responsibility

- Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations. \r
- Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients. \r
- Performs daily patient rounds. \r
- Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests. \r
- Interprets laboratory and test results. \r
- Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care. \r
- Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts. \r
- Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions. \r
- Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions. \r
Job Qualification
\r \r- \r
- Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program, required. \r
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education, required. \r
- Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required. \r
- Current BLS certification, required. \r
