These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital\u0026rsquo;s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EQualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEDUCATION/TRAINING: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. B.S.N. preferred.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEXPERIENCE: Two years of professional nursing experience; At least 1 year of previous outpatient experience highly desirable.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ELICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Registered Nurse license in the District of Columbia; CPR certification.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS \u0026 ABILITIES: Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EConsideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms general nursing care to patients.\u0026nbsp; Administers prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with nursing standards.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPrepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EObserves, records, and reports patient\u0026rsquo;s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EGreets patients and prepares them for physician examination.\u0026nbsp; Screens patients for appropriate information.\u0026nbsp; Instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms patient telephone triage, assesses needs, and coordinates needs with medical staff.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEducates patient and family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
