Whole Foods Market is seeking a Payroll Manager at their Global Central Corporate office to handle the day-to-day payroll processing requirements while working with senior management. Candidate to set strategic direction in the development, execution and continuous improvement of multi-state payroll-related policies, procedures, and administration for over 95,000 Team Member in the US, Canada and UK. WFM is looking for someone with growth mindset and grit to keep moving forward as our business continues to expand. Candidates should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic with the ability to prioritize their workload to ensure timely resolutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily work activities and assigns work; organizes and prioritizes department workload; monitors status of work in progress; and inspects completed work.
  • Review current processes to develop best practices to improve efficiency of payroll processes and Set strategic direction for both the near-term and long-term for continuous improvement in U.S. payroll operations
  • Create SOP’s for Payroll Department
  • Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs.
  • Development of payroll specialist, create annual goals and objective setting, quarterly job dialogues and annual performance reviews.
  • Re-evaluate processes for disseminating reports cross functionally to ensure we are compliant in accordance with related payroll deadlines, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Set strategic direction for both the near-term and long-term for continuous improvement in U.S. payroll operations
  • Partner with Amazon’s Stock Administration to understand vested RSU tax calculation auditing and reconciliation process
  • Support and monitor compliance with departmental and overall WFM objectives ensuring team maintains a strong focus on key goals and Customer Service
  • Participate in and/or lead internal and/or external audits as required
  • Manager annual preparation and delivery of Form W-2 and all annual year-end processes.
  • Drive continued cultural transformation through credible, strategic influence among business leaders and senior management
  • Skillful in handling difficult or highly sensitive situations with the highest levels of integrity and discretion

    Qualifications:  

    • A minimum of 5 years progressive payroll experience and a minimum of 1 years of management experience.
    •  Knowledge of payroll principles, practices and procedures.
    • Strong understanding of Workday and Kronos preferred
    • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
    • Certified Payroll Professional credentials preferred but, not required
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills that includes the ability to interact with team members at all levels
    • Advanced proficiency on Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
    • Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action and follow up
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, including preparing and delivery of presentations to all levels of staff including upper management
