The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with various stakeholders including directly managed technology team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities to the production delivery.


This role requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a Payments and Transfers domain and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the domain. The role applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical solutions with a strong commercial awareness as a necessity. The Role is accountable for delivery of a full range of services to both marked for divestiture and retained markets across Asia and EMEA. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally and externally, often at a senior executive level. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including people development and coaching, management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. Accountable for managing end-to-end product quality and stability from pre-production delivery to production management. Responsible for consistent & sustained quality bars in product delivery, safety & soundness, stability, Compliance benchmarks, and managing budgets. Also accountable for divestiture, consent order, controls, and modernization of Customer data and communications platform across Asia & EMEA markets.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)

+ Constantly evolve Product vision and product directions for Payment and Transfers domain to match the upcoming industry trends as well as Citis internal biz requirements.

+ Align teams across product domains to product vision, and guide teams to meet all planned and unplanned delivery commitments in Payments and Transfers area.

+ Responsible to ensure consistent and sustained quality bars in product delivery, safety & soundness, stability, compliance benchmarks, and managing budgets.

+ Maintain increased focus on divestiture, consent order, controls, and modernization of Payment and Transfers technology platform across Asia & EMEA markets.

+ Directly impact the businesses through contribution of technical solutions in complex program delivery and take accountability for the end results.

+ Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.

+ Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues

+ Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards

+ Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals

+ Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources

+ Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

+ Drives continued cost reductions and efficiencies across the portfolios supported by adoption of automated tools, knowledge management, performance tuning, and user training

+ Responsible for VOE score & championship activities of directly managed as well as site level resources.


**Qualifications:**


+ 15+ years of relevant experience in application development management

+ Deep understanding of Asia & EMEAs Citi Core Banking applications and specifically Payment & Transfers applications

+ Deep understanding of Citis Banking products, Controls and Compliance policies specially related to Individual retail customers including High net worth customers.

+ Deep understanding of Citis Payment & Transfers Data model and its interlinkages with other consumer banking applications across multiple markets in Asia & EMEA

+ Deep understanding of mainframe technology stack with an exposure to API, Webservices, Cloud technologies

+ Hands on Experience managing & building virtual multi-geography based global technology teams engaged in product delivery

+ Hands on experience of managing complex production as well as SDLC phase issues requiring multiple stakeholders involvement

+ Proven experience of senior stakeholder management within Citi or similar organization

+ Exceptional problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills

+ Ability to influence peers & other stakeholders to achieve shared common goal

+ Ability to plan, organize, and forecast the team workload

+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with relevant stakeholder both internal as well as external, and own team members


**Education:**


+ Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience

+ Masters degree preferred


+ An excellent knowledge of industry Trends, Practices, and standards especially related to Consumer Payments to enhance customer experience across multiple markets.

+ Proven leadership drive to take teams performance to next level

+ An excellent communication & mature negotiation skill

+ Hands of experience of managing software delivery for global organization with multi-location delivery units in complex multi dependency paradigm

+ A sharp focus on quality in both pre-production & production environment

+ Understanding of Credit cards and Wealth management products for consumer banking segment would be an added advantage

+ Ability to mitigate project risk with proactive planning

+ Ability to manage large virtual teams for focused delivery & provide oversight to teams upto 100 FTE

+ Proven leadership skills to manage communication with Audit teams (both internal & external)
