Under the supervision of the A/R Manager and within the department and organization's policies and procedures, ensures all patient account balances are billed and collected upon, based on department set billing timeframes.
  • Responsible for the management of patient's accounts to include validation of patient and payer information to result in the timely collection of accounts.
  • Stay abreast of related insurance regulations and reimbursement policies to ensure maximum reimbursement.
  • Contact third-party payers within 30 days of billing to verify receipt and to ascertain status of claims.  Repeat activity at 45-60-75-90 day intervals.
  • Review accounts that have been partially paid or denied within three days of payment/rejection and takes appropriate follow-up action with third-party payer.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with the third-party payer personnel.
  • Prepare and maintain statistics and reports and distributes the information as appropriate.
  • Recommend and prepare adjustments to revenue via contractual, debits and write-offs.
  • Analyze accounts with credit balances on a monthly basis and makes appropriate adjustments and/or refunds as evaluated by the Manager.
  • Coordinates with Utilization Review in regard to outstanding documentation.
  • Coordinate with clinical reimbursement in regard to missing insurance information, authorizations, etc.
  • Monitor the status of accounts placed with attorneys or in litigation.
  • Exercise good judgment in identifying and referring significant issues/trends to the Manager with recommendations for resolutions.
  • Utilizes and maintains collection system in Delta.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Associate's Degree with minimum three (3) years' experience in healthcare-related billing or high school graduate or equivalent with four (4) years' experience healthcare-related billing.
  •  Knowledge of General Accounting practices. Proficient spreadsheet application skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective written and telephone skills.

Schedule Details: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:30a-4:30p. May need to stay late during departments end of month
