Yelp is seeking an exceptional individual to help Yelp Knowledge (learn more at www.yelp.com/knowledge) partnerships flourish and grow as a member of Yelps Business & Corporate Development team. The candidate will manage & grow existing Yelp Knowledge partnerships as well as structure new partnerships across industry verticals, such as strategy consulting, insurance, sales intelligence, risk management and finance. As part of this role, there will be KPIs to develop and execute against as we optimize the program for growth. In addition, there is an opportunity to work closely with a variety of cross-functional groups such as product, marketing, strategy and operations. This role includes working directly with strategic partners, founders and senior executives, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and a polished presence.
Where you come in:
- You will grow existing revenue-generating partnerships that advance Yelp Knowledges mission of enabling strategic insight for local businesses.
- You will establish and maintain strong relationships with senior execs from leading Internet, mobile and social media platform companies.
- You will learn the overall partnership and deal process, managing all core post-deal signing processes, such as co-marketing, technical integration and new growth strategies.
- You will be both partner and product-driven, developing strong relationships with external partners, but also with our internal product and engineering teams.
- You will develop strong working relationships across other Yelp departments, including sales, ops, legal, finance, and PR.
- You will manage relationships with large numbers of partners in scalable ways, driving value for Yelps 86 million mobile users and bringing Yelps 99 million reviews to other products and platforms.
- You will represent Yelp as a spokesperson and evangelist at industry events.
- You will manage internal partnership dashboards and be a master at tracking business goals and understanding our business metrics in detail.
- You will consistently deliver positive results by growing existing revenue partners each quarter with an eye towards signing new partners down the road.
What it takes to succeed:
- You have a minimum of 5+ years experience in business development, strategic sales, consulting or finance.
- Yelp strives to develop long-term, highly engaged partners that want to grow together. The right candidate will enjoy and thrive at building strong relationships internally and externally.
- You have analytical skills grounded in strong business/finance fundamentals (MBA, JD or comparable experience -- e.g. top 5 consulting firm, investment banking, finance, corp dev, VC, etc).
- You have strong Excel / Google spreadsheet skills and are willing to learn MySQL and data query techniques.A
- You have a keen attention-to-detail in order to maintain credibility with both internal and external stakeholders, both in numerical analysis and in partnership agreement work.
- You have the ability to work productively with product and engineering teams (prior product/engineering experience is ideal).
- You are a strong self-starter and self-motivated learner, who is tenacious and persistent. You know when to push but also when to observe and listen.
- You have influencing skills in all forms: written, presentations and negotiations.
- Some travel: Roughly once a quarter.
