Paramedic, Critical Care  

UW Medicines mission is to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, providing outstanding primary and specialty care to the people of the region, and preparing tomorrows physicians, scientists and other health professionals.  UW Medicine owns or operates Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medical Center, a network of UW Medicine Neighborhood Clinics that provide primary care, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine, Airlift Northwest, and other owned, operated or affiliated entities as appropriate. In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Childrens University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance a partnership among UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Childrens.

The OUTREACH CLINICAL EDUCATOR position is a unique hybrid role at Airlift Northwest.  This position will work with the Clinical Education and Outreach departments at ALNW to meet the educational needs of both requestors and staff.  The Outreach Clinical Educator will be responsible to plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver education events for our requestors (EMS and outside hospitals) and support the execution of the Clinical Education Team's goals internally.  
Must be skilled in performing and analyzing a learning needs assessment.  Will work with ALNW outreach staff and requestors to identify learning needs.  Candidate must be proficient in public speaking.  Candidate will be expected to identify and apply the most recent practice evidence for presentations. Will be expected to regularly communicate feedback from requestors, progress towards goals, and overall performance of outreach education.  

Candidate is responsible to track all outreach activities in EMS Charts. 
ALNW depends on requests from pre-hospital agencies and hospitals across Washington and southeast Alaska. It is important to continue to develop relationships with requesting agencies to educate regarding ALNW capabilities and increase overall requests from all agencies. This position will have a direct impact on the patient care in the communities ALNW serves.  ALNW is critical to referrals to UW Medicine in quaternary care, some of the highest reimbursed care in all of UW Medicine. The communities ALNW serves depends on us to be a bridge to life saving care.  This position will support the Universitys commitment to improving community health. 

Clinical Education-Internal and External
Conduct and analyze learning needs assessment of learners
Delivery of trainings and presentations in varied settings (prehospital, hospital, and ALNW)
Coordination of trainings and presentations varied settings
Collaborate with Clinical Educators, Outreach RNs, and Outreach Coordinators to develop and coordinate offerings. 
Validation and approval of outreach presentations by outreach speakers 
Managing customer relationships  

Curriculum Development
Develop content for a variety of learners of varied backgrounds and experience levels
Develop and evaluate menu of offerings 
Determine best delivery method for offerings

Administrative Duties
Tracking events in ALNW's electronic charting platform

Bachelors Degree in any field for Paramedics
Professional Certification on National Registry
Washington State License
4-5 years of active clinical experience and 1 year of education design and delivery experience (can be concurrent with clinical experience).  Proficiency in electronic medical record keeping and Microsoft Office programs. 
Equivalent experience may substitute for requirements

RN with emergency medicine, transport, or ICU experience- same requirements as above.
National certification (CEN, CCRN, CFRN) required for RNs.

Paramedic Critical Care Certification is preferred and required within one year of hire
