Introduction
As an IBM Solution Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.


Your Role and Responsibilities
A Senior Solution Architect is primarily responsible for leading the design and implementation of cross product solutions for large projects implementing Oracle EPM and EPM Cloud solutions. This individual must possess multi-product knowledge within a core product suite that is used to drive complete solutions for the client. They have obtained product certification in each of the products that make up the core product suite as well as design certification in those products, as available. A Senior Solution Architect has a proven track record of applying standard project management practices to managing projects to successful completion. On larger projects, the Senior Solution Architect would typically work with the assigned Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to ensure the overall project is managed to success. A Senior Solution Architect is able to perform the routine and non-routine tasks independently, is willing to take on a team lead role to formally coach/mentor less experienced consultants and act as part of the extended management team in defining and deploying IBM policies and procedures.

Business Development / Sales Support
  • Identify opportunities for expanding Oracle EPM and EPM Cloud business in existing clients for core product plus appropriate supporting products.
  • Identify opportunities for multi-product integration, utilizing Oracle EPM and EPM Cloud solutions, 3rd party or custom solutions.
  • Demonstrate (through standard or custom Proof of Concepts) core/advanced functionality of multi product family.
  • May assist Services Management with client meetings and proposals.
  • Develop white papers for business and product leading practices.
Implementation Work
  • All implementation work should be completed in accordance with IBMs methodology and standards and be completed independently.
  • Lead the requirements and design of applications involving the core product plus appropriate supporting products to create a complete solution for the client for large scale projects. Validate the initial requirements analysis, document design and design the application by integrating product knowledge with the client requirements.
  • Review and finalize project documentation produced by team members or create project documentation independently as client project requires. Ensure knowledge is transferred to the client.
  • Obtain design validation from cross section of client resources (design, technical, product).
  • Perform continuous reevaluation of the design and adjust the system accordingly.
  • May need to Share lessons learned and incorporate leading practices into the methodology.
Resource Management
  • Work with the Project Manager to identify roles and responsibilities, assign team members, deliver project assignments and responsibilities and perform resource scheduling.
  • May be asked to evaluate performance of project team and communicate directly to team and to Services Management.
  • As requested, assume a Team Lead role by coordinating and facilitating team calls and participating as part of the management team.
Project Management
  • The Senior Solution Architect must be able to manage projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost. In this capacity, they would be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the project are effectively managed to deliver successful customer implementations, using standard project management practices and principles. On large-scale projects where a Project Manager has been assigned, the Senior Solution Architect would work with in conjunction with the Project Manager to manage the day-to-day activities of the team. The specific activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and manage the project plan and schedule. Keep the client informed of progress, issues, and risks through regular written and verbal communications. The communications could be an activity report for the team, a status report of the project or providing verbal updates to client and Oracle EPM stakeholders.
  • Actively manage risks associated with the project by identifying the problem, troubleshooting, and taking corrective action. Escalate issues and risks appropriately using standard protocol.
  • Control the scope of work, including budget and schedule, as defined in the statement of work and project plan. Actively manage scope changes with the client and obtain written agreement on changes that impact the project budget and schedule.
  • Provide regular updates regarding changes in staffing and budget issues to Services Management and/or Project Manager.
  • In the absence of a Project Manager, obtain written sign off upon project completion, present written project completion document to client, and participate in post implementation evaluation.
  • Ensure all project documentation is properly disseminated and stored for IBM and client use. May involve uploading documentation to central repository.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of hours, expenses and schedule.
  • May be asked to take an oversight role to ensure adherence to quality standards for their area of knowledge
Personal Development
  • Work with manager to execute and refine training plan
  • Present at seminars, user conferences/groups to share implementation best practices with other employees, clients, potential clients and partners.
  • Communicate written white papers for business and product best practices
  • Actively lead team activities (i.e. meetings, web-casts, teleconferences) and assist others in developing their personal training plans





Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Must be product certified in core product AND in associated products that make up the core product solution
  • Successful completion of basic project management training curriculum
  • At least 8-10 years of experience designing and leading Oracle EPM Cloud solutions or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience with providing Oracle EPM Cloud design level expertise to constituents (i.e. Sales, Product Management, Channels)
