The North Warning System (NWS) is a joint United States and Canadian radar system that includes 47 radar sites spanning the Arctic from Labrador to the Alaskan border. The NWS provides the capability to detect airborne threats across North Americas polar region, providing a command and control capability to the Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) of the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) Raytheon provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the NWS system including full care, custody, and control of the entire NWS and its components. This includes the radar sites; five logistics support sites (LSSs), a monitoring and control center, and a repair depot. Key activities include radar, electronic systems, power generation, and facilities maintenance and repair; logistics support; and remote monitoring and control. Raytheon seeks a Co-op/Junior Engineer for a four-month term to support the NWS system O&M contract in the programs Ottawa office. The position will report to and support the Technical Services Manager. The Co-op/Junior Engineer is responsible for drafting Unsatisfactory Condition Reports, drafting Business Case and Options Analysis, supporting the annual review of preventive maintenance task cards, investigating equipment item numbers and manufacturer part numbers, investigating asset repair documentation, reviewing codes and regulations, collecting and entering data, creating meeting invites and drafting meeting minutes, and other related tasks as necessary. The Co-op/Junior Engineer tasking will relate heavily to mechanical systems with some work being associated with communications and electrical systems. Requirements: Minimum completion of three years of a Bachelor of Engineering program Basic knowledge of engineering practices and processes Good communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to obtain an enhanced security clearance and controlled goods Desirable Skills and Experience: Ability to function and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned tasks An understanding of working collaboratively on a team, and the willingness to be an active and supportive member Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to make recommendations as either an individual or team assignment Knowledge of mechanical systems including heating/ventilation and air conditioning, waste water, potable water, fire, and fuel storage and pipeline systems Ability to read and mark-up technical drawings Raytheon Canada Limited is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcomes a wide diversity of applicants.
