At Cedars-Sinai, the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute doesn't treat all cancers the same. There are more than 20 cancer centers, programs or specialized services that specialize in treatment and leading edge research into specific forms of cancer. These centers and programs provide patient centered care and state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures. Job Description/Responsibilities: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative, acute care through discharge. A Nurse Practitioners practice incorporates both independent decision making abilities and collaboration with the board certified/eligible physician to provide expert care to the patients. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to the Medical Director and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team. The Nurse Practitioner practices under the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section 1480-1485, utilizing the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures. These are developed in a collaborative effort within the area of specialty, department of Nursing and the Hospital Administration, incorporating CSHS goals and represent an interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery. The Nurse Practitioner provides individualized care upholding CSHS philosophies including but not limited to care consistent with Nursing standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and the Plan for Provision of Patient Care, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedure. She/he enhances competency skills through continuing education programs. She/he demonstrates the ability to provide care to special patient population and those with diverse cultural background. She/he performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to age and developmental milestones of the population (s) served which may include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. She/he is able to identify the ability of the age specific population served to follow direction/instructions and give consent. She/he can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide safe environment and provide appropriate assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the population served. Educational Requirements: Master of Science degree in Nursing License/Certification Requirements: Nurse Practitioner license in the State of California National Nurse Practitioner certification Prescriptive privileges in the State of California Experience: Minimum two (2) years of Oncology Nursing experience required Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Oncology required Physical Requirements: Normal physical requirements for routine administrative responsibilities carried out at a desk. \#LI-Nursing Keywords: Oncology, Cancer, Breast, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, NP, Research, Hospital, Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, California
