Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Naval Shipboard Electrician to provide technical support on DDG/LSD/LPD class ships for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 262. The position will be located at Naval Station, Norfolk, VA.

Essential Responsibilities: Primary skills required are in condition-based maintenance assessment, repair, and maintenance of DDG Electrical /IC equipment and systems

  1. Provide technical assessment and troubleshooting support for DDG/LSD/LPD Electrical/IC equipment

  2. Observe/conduct cold/hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out of specification readings or settings.

  3. Provide support for various assessments and technical assistance. Following is a possible list of equipment and services to be supported. This is not an all-inclusive list and is subject to change: Switchboards and load centers, power and lighting distribution panels, circuit breakers, cathodic protection systems, and degaussing systems.

  4. Observe operation of the equipment by ships force to witness the full range of performance.

  5. Operate the appropriate measuring/test equipment as required during assessments/troubleshooting and repairs.

  6. Evaluate the findings of the inspections and/or assessments and determine away ahead to correct the current situation in supporting DDG/LSD/LPD Electrical /IC equipment, Switchboards and load centers, power and lighting distribution panels, circuit breakers, cathodic protection systems, and degaussing systems.

  7. Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.

  8. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Minimum Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least five years of job-related experience.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in availability planning, modernization, repair and testing of shipboard equipment and systems

  • Minimum of four years experience in administration of the Navy 3-M and supply system

  • Minimum of one year experience as a technical instructor and IMA Quality assurance inspector

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC)

  • Current certification as a level 1 thermographer (Infrared Survey) and 2 years general electrical/IC experience onboard marine vessels

  • Five years experience within the last 10 years with shipboard power distribution, interior communication or electronic system repair and maintenance including qualification as a CIC Watch Supervisor or Chief Electrical Watch on a conventionally powered ship or as a load dispatcher on a nuclear-powered ship or similar commercial qualification.
