I. Basic Purpose:

The Staff MRI Technologist will plan, monitor and provide MRI examinations under the supervision of the Chief MRI Technologist and the Radiologist.

II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Complies with established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes. Demonstrates compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.

2. Consistently demonstrates appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers, and coworkers. Cooperates with Management and peers to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.

3. Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Technologist procedures documented in protocol manual to perform MRI examinations.

4. Reviews all orders with the Radiologist to ensure proper examination and protocols are performed.
5. Provides the Radiologist with current and previous diagnostic MRI images in a timely manner. Provides the Radiologist with current and previous pertinent reports and required paperwork in a timely manner.

6. Assures maximum safety for all patients and medical personnel in the MRI scan room and reviews all safety screening of the patient.

7. Assists the MRI Nurse with indirect patient care and emergency situations.

8. Administers gadolinium as specified in the Technologist procedures.

9. Identifies significant changes in patient condition and keeps the physician/head MRI nurse informed.

10. Crosschecks all telephone orders with written orders from the referring physician to ensure proper exam has been scheduled.

11. Obtains pertinent patient information; performs patient and family education as needed.

12. Explains the exam process to each patient.

13. Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Communicates any problems or requests for supplies to appropriate supervisor.

14. Maintains orderly and clean work environment; provides a safe environment for all patients.

15. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

16. Performs all other tasks as assigned to maintain an efficient, organized MRI department and provide the highest level of patient care.

17. Maintains annual mandatory education requirements specific to position as mandated by Martin Health System.

18. Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

III. Minimum Requirements (experience, training, and education):

To effectively fulfill this position, candidate must meet the following requirements:

> Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
> Current, active Radiologic Technologist License in the state of Florida Primary Source online verification required from the State of Florida licensing database.
> Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and obtain the advanced qualifications in Magnetic Resonance Imaging within one year of hire; ARRT, cross sectional experience preferred.
> Current acceptable CPR certification required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider OR American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer OR American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
> Knowledge of computers and patient care preferred.
