The School of Public Health has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Masters in Public Health (MPH) Core Program Manager who will report to the MPH Core Director.  This position will perform tasks central to the support of the MPH core curriculum. The responsibilities will include supporting curriculum development and implementation, program administration, and student academic advising. This position will work closely with the MPH Core Director and core faculty, as well as diverse stakeholders including SPH faculty, staff, students and administrators.  The position requires an understanding of professional graduate education, familiarity with UW policies and systems, and good communication and organizational skills.

Provide lead staff support for MPH Core faculty, such as preparing course materials, using data sources to developing student rosters/directories, and developing course, program or student related statistical reports.
Manage course logistical processes and communications (enrollment, student communications, classroom assignments, course sequencing, annual and quarterly course schedules, etc.)
Manage all aspects of course management system (Canvas), including the quarterly preparation, set-up, and support for multiple courses. Monitor timelines and implement proactive procedures to streamline the quarterly and yearly course preparation cycles. Provide consultation, technical support and training for faculty and teaching assistants working with course management system.
Handle quarterly duties constructing Time Schedule, coordinating joint course curriculum with other departments, supporting quarterly course instructional needs (classroom scheduling and final exam scheduling), determining course eligibility and distributing course entry codes accordingly.
Act as liaison to SPH departments and programs representing program policies and curricular philosophy. Work closely with MPH program directors and coordinators to align curriculum content and pedagogy with program mission, goals, and accreditation requirements.
Manage quarterly course evaluation processes.
Participate in SPH and Graduate School meetings and trainings related to curriculum.

Facilitate clear communication among the departmental curriculum coordinators and the Deans Office for the new MPH curriculum.
Provide administrative support to MPH Steering Committee and Instructional Working Group.  Develop timelines, staff meetings, coordinate shared electronic workspaces and track committee member assignments, maintain meeting minutes, and facilitate committee communication.
Independently answer inquiries about educational programs; use independent judgment to redirect to other staff/departments/programs as appropriate.
Update and maintain MPH core related content online and in print.

Advise current students on MPH common core resources, policies and procedures.
Receive and respond to inquiries about the MPH common core.
Monitor MPH student progress and data (including quarterly registrations and degree benchmarks) and advise faculty and students, as appropriate, on student progress toward completion of requirements.
Prepare and coordinate student-related needs and events, including orientations, tutoring, and summer boot camps.
Participate in School of Public Health (SPH) and Graduate School meetings and trainings related to advising.

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Education, Social Sciences or related field. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute.
    Three years experience in academic/curriculum administration and curriculum development
    Current knowledge on course management systems and other educational communication systems (i.e. Canvas, Zoom)
    Capable of transforming ideas into new procedures or tangible results.
    Independently motivated and excellent organizational skills.
    Excellent written and oral communication.
    Strong proactive collaborative work ethic and commitment to supporting graduate education.
    Intermediate or better experience with MS Office applications and the Internet.
    Experience working with diverse coworkers, faculty, and students.
    Experience with student advising and/or student services

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

    Academic curriculum systems and degree requirements
    Complex project management
    Experience with course development; strategic educational development processes, programmatic needs assessment; instructor training, educational leadership development activities.
    Familiarity with university-level public health curricula the root causes of health and educational disparities among under represented communities
    Experience with effective competency-driven educational programs and educational methods
