Middle Office (AVP) JPNEquity Capital Markets/Markets Operations

**Business Overview / Position Objective:**

Citi Japan is seeking an AVP candidate to join Equity Capital Markets Middle Office team. The role sits within of the Markets Operations organization, as part of its Institutional Clients Group (ICG). This team acts as a trade support & control function of the Tokyo based Equity Capital Markets desk very closely and handles: trade booking/processing, pre & post-execution coordination, reporting of Underwriting deals and its Documentation. Also this team covers Japan Cash Equities which Tokyo based Equity trading desk trade in the secondary market and handles: trade capturing, handling Corporate Action events, position reconciliation, break solving and regulatory validation.

The role includes interaction with external clients, as well as internal interaction with stakeholders including Front Office, Operations, Finance & Technology and Compliance locally and globally. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects to continuously provide excellence in operational support including system migration, regulatory governance and automation/digitization/innovation.

**Position Responsibilities:**

+ Working closely and effectively with the business and other control functions to provide a high standard of trade support including internal setup/coordination, AML/KYC support, execution assist, documentation management, and settlement & payment monitoring. This position covers both **Primary and Secondary market** trades and coordinate with Debt Capital Markets and Fixed Income Trading Middle Office members to align process.

+ Ensuring trades are booked accurately and in good time.

+ Investigating breaks & inquiries and making the correct decisions to resolve them.

+ Monitoring a life-cycle events and arranging front to back operations to avoid settlement failures

+ Timely escalation of issues to Middle Office management.

+ Work with regional and global peers to communicate ideas and solutions to create controlled and simplified processes with minimal touch points and maximum scalability

+ Maintaining, developing and improving current processes & procedures.

**Required Skills and Abilities**

+ **Product Knowledge:** Equity Middle Office and Settlement Knowledge preferred

+ **Communication:** Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and ability to liaise with large global multi-function departments. English Communication: (advanced to fluent verbal and written level above TOIEC 850). Fluency in Japanese language (written, spoken and reading required)

+ **Experience:** Demonstrated experience of working in an ECM, Middle Office or Operations role

+ **Organization:** Strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities along with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Managing time effectively and scheduling coordination skill is required.

+ **Analytical:** Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to research an issue across sources to identify plans to deliver. A high level of attention to detail. An ability to pick up and learn systems, trade flows and concepts quickly.

+ **Interpersonal:** Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships both internally and externally to collaborate effectively. Ability to Lead and influence individuals, including those who do not directly work for you. An ability to work harmoniously with various teams and people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.

+ **Technical Skills:** Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.

**Preferred Level of Qualifications & Licenses**

+ Education: Undergraduate degree level

+ Work Experience: Middle Office / Operations experience is strongly preferred

+ JSDA Registered Representative (Internal Control Manager or Class I preferred).
