Ascension Allegan Hospital seeks a Medical Staff Services Coordinator o work in full time, days our Quality & Risk Managemen Department

    • Medical Staff Services Coordinator:

      • Coordinates the medical staff credentialing and privileging process for both new appointments and reappointments in compliance with AGH Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations, Applicable Accreditation Standards, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation (CoPs) and other requirements. This includes maintenance and compiling of all medical staff files for appointment and reappointment such as application review, primary source verification, affiliation responses, and preparation of necessary information for the Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. Serves as facility resource person and expert regarding these processes;

      • Understands and implements the applicable CMS CoPs, Applicable Accreditation Standards, Allegan Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations requirements in the medical staff credentialing and privileging process. This includes development and proper implementation/interpretation/application of policies, procedures and other supporting documents. Serves as facility resource person in the interpretation of those regulations and guidelines;

      • Partners with Medical Staff Leaders to develop and review all departmental documents such as forms, policies, standard work based on regulatory changes or hospital services changes;

      • Maintains cordial and professional relationships with medical staff members and their office/support personnel.  Establishes direct communication lines for Medical Staff Office matters;

      • Functions as an agent of the protected peer review process through collaboration with Allegan Quality Staff for provider performance data supporting provider reappointments. Assist in facilitating discussion and presenting reappointment files to the appropriate individuals and committees as required;

      • Collaborates with appropriate leadership for Medical Staff orientation;

      • Coordinates the monthly provider education meetings by obtaining and scheduling presenters, distributing information regarding the meetings, and arranging for continuing medical education credits;

      • Serves as Administrator of Electronic Provider Database which includes provider demographic, status and privileging information. Serves as the primary resource, trainer, and onsite expert;

      • Maintains provider tables in electronic medical record system by initiating new member entries and collaborating with IT department of new provider access;

      • Responsible for ongoing internal communications on Medical Staff membership;

      • Works with internal insurance carrier for coverage verification for new employed providers and termination for departing providers;

      • Manages data quality and integrity of web-based applications and electronic provider files on defined standards through systematic audit; and

      • Maintains physician on-call schedules.
