The Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a Board Certified Medical Physicist to join our current team of three Physicists, four Dosimetrists, and five Radiation Oncologists. We are looking for candidates with experience and skills to handle all aspects of radiation oncology physics including daily clinical tasks, special procedures, physician consultation, and quality assurance.   \n

Virginia Mason Medical Center (ACR accredited) and its two satellites currently has three Varian LINACs (TrueBeam, Trilogy, 21-EX) and two GE wide-bore 4DCTs, one Philips 4D-CT. A new Truebeam is going into one of the satellites and will start treating patients Oct 2018. The main campus has a busy brachytherapy program offering permanent prostate seed implant (VariSeed), Gyn HDR (Varian Gammamed), and breast IORT procedures (Xoft Axxent).  Other systems/devices include Mosaiq, RayStation, Pinnacle, MIM, BrainLAB, Calypso, Varian RPM, Electron IORT (soft-docking), SDX (breath-hold), B&K Flex Focus ultrasound, MapCheck2, ArcCheck, ICProfiler, and an IBA dosimetry system. \n

Daily, Monthly, and Annual QA/calibration of LINAC, OBI, CT, and HDR. Chart checks and approval of plans, including 3D, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, and SBRT. Operating Room duties include breast IORT and real-time planning for prostate seed implant. Additionally, the physicist will be responsible for treatment planning of HDR brachytherapy and SRS procedures. Occasional weekend duties such as QA, post-repair/upgrade validation, and machine commissioning may be required. \n

The Physicist will be primarily stationed at the downtown Virginia Mason campus, while also assisting in covering the satellite sites (within 30 miles of downtown). The physicist will assist and consult with the Radiation Oncologists with regards to patient care and treatment delivery.\n

Qualifications:\n

  • M.S or Ph.D. (Preferred) Degree from an approved institution\n
  • \n

    Minimum two years full-time clinical physics experience preferred\n

  • \n

    Board Certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics preferred\n

  • \n

    Experience in beam data collection and TPS commissioning desirable\n

  • \n

    Authorized Medical Physicist in Washington state preferred\n
