UW Medical Center Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our Surgical Services and Hernia Center. Our Surgical Services and Hernia Center is the leader in advanced surgical services for the Seattle community and beyond. We offer a variety of minimally invasive treatment options, including the da Vinci Si Robotic Surgical System. Our board-certified surgeons have extensive experience and a track record of surgical excellence, and every service we provide is personalized to fit each patient's unique needs. The Medical Assistant will support a broad range of surgical patients, providing the highest level of patient care possible.

SCHEDULE:
The Medical Assistant will work Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. There are no weekend or holiday responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Room patients, take vitals, and input relevant information into Epic
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked with equipment and supplies
  • Assist during patient examinations and procedures
  • Maintain sterile technique during special procedures
  • Schedule add-on imaging, procedures, and testing
  • Complete prior authorizations for imaging studies
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients
  • Transport lab specimens and instruments to correct hospital departments for processing
  • Answer questions and follow through on patient inquiries by phone or through EMR
  • Provide telephone screening per clinic protocols and recognize emergent/urgent problems

  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.

  • DESIRED:
  • 1 year of work experience providing direct patient care, preferably in a surgical clinic setting
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR software
  • Active BLS Certification
