TheMedical AssistantorEMTperforms a variety of duties related to providing telephonic patient care.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manages patient health concerns and symptoms via a telephone interaction utilizing physician-approved protocols for the assessment and management of a range of symptoms.

    • These telephone interactions require assessment, patient education and may require crisis intervention.

    • Responds to and prioritizes incoming patient messages and test results. Schedules appointments as needed.

    • May schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance prior-authorization.

    • Delivers patient education, according to the individualized needs of the patient and as prescribed by the Provider and/or Group policy.

    • Educates patient and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.

    • Responds to patient questions and appropriately provides reassurance while responding to patient concerns.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant diploma / degree ( 2+ years of experience working as an MA in lieu of diploma ) or basic EMT Certification
  • Ability to commute to the office location/s

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA)
  • EMR / EHR experience
  • Experience with NextGen medical record software
  • CPR certification
  • Experience with medical front office and back office duties including vitals, phlebotomy, injections, casting/splinting, administering medications, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications
  • Additional healthcare certifications including ARRT, CEHRS, CBCS, CMAA, CPT

Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases is an employment requirement.
