Position Overview:
Xerox has a full-time opening for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with Injection Molding experience to join our Solid Ink Operations & Engineering team.  This position is located on Xeroxs beautiful Wilsonville campus near Portland, Oregon.
The Mechanical Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the Solid Ink molding operations, and works as part of a team in a manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on meeting operational targets.

  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for Injection molding machines, packaging equipment, robots, fill equipment and more within the Ink Manufacturing facility.
  • Optimizes injection molding process parameters to ensure production of high quality product. 
  • Utilizes SPC to monitor key process and quality indicators.
  • Employs structured problem solving methods to identify root cause and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and training to tool technicians and injection molding operators.
  • Leads and completes productivity projects to improve quality, cost, reliability, and safety.
  • Revises and maintains manufacturing documentation.  Ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Takes ownership for their process and specific assigned projects.  Operates with a sense of urgency.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities.  Develops and optimizes processes using structured problem solving tools.
  • Interfaces with vendors, contractors, customers, and service providers.
  • Works cross-functionally across the organization to enable manufacturing success.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-7 years experience in a fast-paced industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years injection molding process experience (must have)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as NX or Solidworks
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehension of electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Strong logical and critical thinking skills.  Working knowledge of statistical tools (for example, SPC, ANOVA, and DOE) and structured problem solving skills (for example Six Sigma and Shainin).
  • Problem-solver with demonstrated ability to identify projects, develop strategies to address them, and close them in decisive fashion.  Excellent time and project management skills coupled with high level of productivity.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Demonstrated ability to communicate across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Collaborative individual who works well within a cross-functional team to complete projects.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a sense of urgency and dedication.  Self-motivated, works well with limited direction.  Takes ownership of assignments.
  • Working knowledge of Engel Injection Molding presses
  • Six Sigma dfLSS Greenbelt certification
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing facility.  Working knowledge of ISO requirements and culture.
  • Experience writing standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:  Industrial Automation & Controls, Programming, Robotic Packaging, Part/Fixture Design
