Summary:

Oversees product packaging process and activities, prepares written work instructions for packaging operations, analyzes engineering drawings and specifications; ensures compliance with US Department of transportation and international regulations for the shipment of hazardous material.

You Must Have:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering 
  • At least two years experience in engineering or related technical activities, such as manufacturing, inspection processing or tool design
  • U.S. citizenship in order to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy \"\"Q\"\" level security clearance

  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership with ability to work effectively under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making. Self-directed and able to prioritize tasks a in order to hit all deadlines
  • Designs, fabricates and develops packaging for a variety of products
  • Prepares written work instructions for packaging operations.  Identifies and orders equipment necessary to perform packaging operations
  • Coordinates projects and analyzes engineering drawings and specifications
  • Interacts with design agencies and suppliers to assist in resolving design, development, production and acceptance issues
  • Ensures compliance with US Department of Transportation and international regulations for the shipment of hazardous materials
  • Requires certification training in the shipment of hazardous materials per 49CFR, IATA Dangerous Goods, shipment of radioactive materials and the transportation of explosives
  • Design packaging, develop scopes of work, and coordinate with outside testing facilities to complete UN Package Testing
  • Coordinates submittal requests and receipts of DOT packaging exemptions
  • Estimates set-up times, flow-times, costs of production and acceptance equipment, and compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review
  • Participates in establishing operating procedures for products and components packaging
  • Defines and recommends new packaging designs, design changes, and alternate designs and equipment necessary to assure packaging quality
  • Originates, refines, and releases complex packaging or inspection work directions
  • Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with design agency, quality, and other affected organizations
