Markets Sales Controls and Supervision

In view of heightened expectations from regulators and to ensure a strong & consistent

global control environment, Citi Capital Markets business is enhancing the

Risk & Control capabilities. This role is reporting to the Head of In-business (non-financial) Risk Director, to support the Institutional Sales Businesses. The role will work with various

teams across Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, as well as Legal, Compliance, Finance

and Risk management to build a consistent controls framework and governance structure

within Citi Markets Sales teams.


The role is new and responsibilities and priorities are evolving. The following are some of the specific activities expected of this role:

+ Drive development of strategy to ensure consistent controls across businesses to enable compliance with various regulatory requirements and consent orders.

+ Responsible for the effectiveness monitoring of these controls and management reporting.

+ Manage cross regional Programs and execute on key projects for the implementation and monitoring of these controls and ensure sustainability.

+ Interact with Audit and other Control groups to drive forward control enhancement initiatives and investigate control failures.

+ Interact with Regulator when needed and support specific exams

+ Lead the Risk Assessment of new and emerging risks and drive changes when needed.

+ Monitor industry trends and articulate Citi's position to Senior Management. This includes providing ongoing updates to Chief Risk Officer's, Product Managers and Sr. Management related to Fraud trends, forecast, performance and opportunities.

+ The position requires substantial interaction and collaboration with Policy, Operations, and other functional business partners including 1st, 2nd and 3rd line of defense

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


+ 15+ years experience in financial services; experience leading analytical teams is required, including managerial experience

+ Strong understanding of Markets Sales and Trading Businesses

+ Experience is designing or assessing controls for Front office, Middle office or Operations

+ Experience in delivering change-related projects

+ Experience managing teams with broad accountability in a complex environment. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization and balance strategic priorities with tactical actions

+ Proven track record and accountability in making quick decision that have an immediate impact on business financials.

+ Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Very strong influence management and relationship skills. A proactive and no surprises approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent reviews

+ Leadership skills in bringing together processes that include different businesses, regions and support functions

+ Strong analytical skills & strategic planning skills

+ Experience in dealing with Regulatory authorities and an understanding of the key control related themes in the capital markets sector


+ Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
