This role will form part of the Global Equity Market Risk team, responsible for Equity Market Risk management for the EMEA Region. The role provides independent second-line Market Risk Management oversight for Equities Trading and Equity Capital Market activities concentrated in London. This role will report into the Global Head of Equity Market Risk Management within Global Market Risk.

**Job Background:**

The EMEA Head of Equities Market Risk will lead a team of market risk managers based in London, covering market risk of the respective Equities Businesses and Hybrid Products. Responsible for limit and risk framework setting for the region, approving bespoke or large or complex transactions, NPAC approval authority for relevant Equity activity and also market risk aspects of electronic trading. The Role involves frequent regulatory interaction with regulators across EMEA and North America. The candidate will also be responsible for participating in the CCAR submissions as well as other FRTB and ICCAP related returns and regional stress testing signoffs.

The EMEA Equities Market Risk candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert that can influence the way processes are designed for risk management. The candidate requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the field and is a leader who can develop new techniques, methodologies and approaches to directly impact the work of others and the results of the Equity Division. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally and externally at a senior levels, and to present and lead in governance forums and Committees.

Applicants should be able to analyse and assess the key risks inherent in a portfolio and to discuss with the trading desk, risk seniors, other control functions and external regulators the types of deals transacted across the Business lines and their risk dynamics. Effective challenge skills are a must. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the main equity and derivative risks traded, risk based Profit Attribution Analysis (PAA) across the desks, and FRTB / VaR / capital implications for the businesses. The role involves ensuring that trading risks are appropriately captured, measured, and controlled, in line with the firms risk policies.

Further, the role involves leading a team five risk managers based in London, as well as the ability to build and lead project teams with participants across market risk globally, other risk stripes and functions, and first line colleagues. The demonstrated ability to lead a team, and cultivate, develop and mentor talent is a must.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Oversee and monitor the risks for the EMEA Equity Desks, which include exposures from a broad-spectrum of equity, FX, interest rate, commodity products.

+ Monitor exposures under the limit framework to ensure adherence to the Volcker Rule and market risk policies.

+ Update and enhance the limit framework as the relevant risks of the portfolio evolve over time.

+ Provide oversight and guidance over the assessment of broad complex issues, new structures and solutions, and drive effective resolution with other senior stakeholders.

+ Provide advice to the businesses on an ongoing basis.

+ Driving Market Risk projects to improve accuracy of market risk analytics.

+ Monitor, review, and approve large complex one off transactions as part of Pre-Trade approval framework.

+ Lead, develop, coach and advance team members in their roles.

+ Analyse complex and structured transactions, review the models with which these trades are booked, and have an understanding of what drives the derivative trading strategies for these products (which can involve highly complex relative performance and path dependency) and the resulting effect in the overall risk profile of the business.

+ Design and implement stress-testing scenarios as part of on-going risk management.

+ Collaborate and partner with function partners to ensure robust oversight governance.

This role will provide unique visibility, cross-functional and cross-Risk experience and knowledge. The position involves significant interaction with senior management and direct involvement in a variety of critical strategic projects within Citi. The role will provide a strong understanding of the regulatory environment, the respective businesses and Risk governance. Opportunities also exist to broaden the breadth of cross firm experience across the products and functions in a general senior management leadership role.

**Knowledge / Experience:**

+ Extensive, proven relevant experience required.

+ Strong and sound understanding of the markets and Market Risk Management.

+ Good attention to detail and very strong analytical background as the trading portfolio spans different asset classes and complex structures.

+ Previous experience as a trader or risk manager is preferred.

+ Knowledge of VaR, its applications and limitations.

+ Understanding of Citis business model and/or that of other similar financial institutions.

+ An understanding the market micro structure and markets operating environment.

+ Exceptional writing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts, translate into "user-friendly" language, and effectively present in text or slide format.

+ Strong quantitative and spreadsheet skills, ability to analyse and interpret data.

+ Diverse and wide range of skills and knowledge / expertise.

+ Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a high-volume and complex environment with changing priorities.

+ Strong quantitative skills.


+ Self-starter, ability to quickly assimilate and analyse large amounts of information across a variety of topics.

+ Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

+ Proven ability to partner and collaborate across a financial firm, excellent influencing, facilitation, and partnering skills, with the ability to build relationships and a strong internal network across functions and throughout the global Citi network.

+ Highly engaged, strong attention to detail, and outcome oriented.

+ The role demands a strong work ethic and desire to deliver results
