Job Description

The role of the Manufacturing Services Manager is to interface directly with the vendors and contractors to design robust support solutions for business-critical manufacturing systems. Strong organizational and multitasking skills will be required to manage multiple business critical GMP support models in a global network.

The successful candidate will oversee a group of domestic and off-shore resources responsible for business continuity, lifecycle management, and risk management. The successful candidate will report to the Sr. Manager of Manufacturing Data Integration Services Center and interface directly with the Thermo Fisher MIM, ITOC, and Service Desk functions. This role will work directly with the business to develop and maintain business continuity plans, robust disaster recovery strategies, monitoring solutions unique to segmented networks, and vendor SLAs for GMP Manufacturing systems.

The Manufacturing Services Manager will work directly with various internal and third party groups to develop SLAs and OLAs for standardized Enterprise support models, proactive monitoring and emergency management solutions that cater to high risk, high impact needs of manufacturing systems..

Position Summary

  • Work with leadership and third parties to perform global site risk assessments to identify gaps in support models and system compliance.
  • Manage various third party vendor SLAs to provide cost-effective critical support engagement.
  • Work directly with Manufacturing Enterprise Manager to coordinate integration of manufacturing IT systems into the overall PSG manufacturing IT landscape.
  • Work with leadership to establish strategic vendor relationships targeted to improve system support and reduce cost
  • Interface with peer managers in ETO to implement support solutions that are GMP compliant and meet Thermo Fisher Standards including:
    • Specialized monitoring, backup solutions, network hardening, etc. specific to a regulated segmented network environment.
    • Security standards unique to GxP segmented environments aligned to CIS guidelines
  • Work with global and site leadership to design robust support solutions for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Administration of ServiceNow Knowledge Base and Knowledge Articles.
  • Provide monthly reports on global GxP Enterprise system support, vulnerabilities, and lifecycle management

  • Self-motivated and independent thinker who can translate circumstances and understanding into actions that move the business forward; ability to work independently without significant direction
  • Excellent critical thinking, troubleshooting, crisis management, and decision-making skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to advise stakeholders on complex technical subjects that are outside of the area of their expertise in concise terms they can understand.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for driving execution at a detailed level, while still maintaining the ability to see the big picture
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Identifies and supports process improvement initiatives to support global teams for streamlining procedures
  • Directs work in controlled and noncontrolled environments to support enhancements, break-fix issues and data migration with development teams and site resources

Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications

  • Technical degree in business, computer science, engineering or related field or 7+ years related experience.
  • Expertise with management, delivery and full accountability with large, enterprise wide projects
  • Regulatory, IT Compliance, Change Management knowledge
  • Hi-tech manufacturing knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working in a matrix and shared services environment.
  • 3-5 years of computer system service delivery experience.
  • 10 years enterprise system and network administration experience in regulated environments preferred.
  • Global cross-cultural experience preferred.
