The Manufacturing and Project Engineering Section Lead within Operations is responsible for leading a support team consisting of engineers who are technically trained individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. The successful candidate will report to a Manufacturing Engineering Section Manager and be accountable for the training, coaching and mentorship of approximately 10 Manufacturing or Project Engineers. The teams objective is to drive for manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement by engaging with the product throughout the production life cycle and value stream. This includes the creation, implementation, refinement and ownership of production processes and collaborating cross functionally to ensure products are producible and capable of meeting Operations goals.

The Section Lead will be directly responsible for managing a functional team of engineers. This work includes prioritizing tasks to meet the customers needs, coordinating resources, managing team staffing levels and interfacing with strategic make center personnel and leaders. The Section Lead will also be responsible for training, coaching, mentoring, employee performance development and ensuring each engineer is performing to the standards set by the Manufacturing and Test Engineering Center. The Section Lead is responsible for the technical quality of engineering tasks, product compliance and providing critical oversight to his/her team of engineers. This position will be also be responsible for certification planning, chairing the process control board, approving timecards and supporting hiring events. The Section Lead will be asked to participate or lead functional or factory improvement projects. This position is intended to be a working lead and the candidate will have additional assignments in support of the make center.
The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform as a technical engineering leader with a strong understanding of the Manufacturing and Project engineering toolset. The candidate must be willing to work beyond the typical 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week. The candidate will possess a passion for functional leadership and be able to demonstrate a high level of maturity and emotional intelligence. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending a large amount of time directly on the factory floor in support of a highly demanding dynamic environment.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering/Manufacturing/Engineering Technology
6 years of progressively increasing leadership responsibility in a Manufacturing environment Experience with software based MRP systems

Engineering Management experience and developing Engineering talent
Experience with Earned Value Systems (EVMS), EAC and/or Budget Management

Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) eg. ISO9000, AS9100
Experience with process development Lean Manufacturing experience
U.S. Citizenship is required

Working Environments:

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
