**Job Summary:**

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Companys

best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one

global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all

distribution, network and engineering operations, sales advertising, data and certain

key technology functions worldwide for the Companys content engines. DMED also

manages operations of the Companys streaming services including Disney+, Hulu,

ESPN+ and Disney+Hotstar; and domestic broadcast and cable television


The DMED Ad Platform integrates with thousands of advertisers, with over a billion

ads served per month. Before being served to a viewer, each one of these ads goes

through a sophisticated workflow involving sales and planning, targeting, trafficking,

and quality control, to deliver maximum value to our advertisers while maintaining

an engaging experience for viewers.

The Ad Applications team is where we develop the tools our advertising and other business partners use to configure rules related to advertiser and content partners that decide (among other things) where, how many, and what type of advertising to show our viewers. Our system is composed of a complex network of both internal and external systems including DMEDs streaming applications, 3rd party sales, order management, and metrics reporting and analyzing systems.

As a Software Development Lead within the Ad Applications team, you will:

+ Lead design and implementation on projects to improve and extend DMEDs existing ad serving platform and its supporting systems.

+ Identify and drive improvements in engineering practices across Ad Platform teams to ensure industry-leading system quality and team efficiency.

+ Coach and mentor more junior development leads and engineers on the team to produce software that conforms to the highest quality standards.

+ Partner with the Product teams to understand their business needs and design outstanding and efficient solutions to complex business problems.

+ Work with engineers on teams across the DMED organization to ensure that advertising works flawlessly across a wide array of devices and applications, and that data and metrics flow efficiently into reporting and financial systems.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

+ Building features and functionality in support of ad campaign

+ trafficking.

+ Troubleshooting existing features throughout various micro-services and systems across Ad Platform.

+ Coach and mentor junior and mid-level engineers on software development best practices.

+ This is a semi-hands-on development role. Youll be leading by example by working closely with the engineers and systems architects to build scalable solutions. While you are not expected to take on any critical path projects, you will help your team with the development of theirs.

+ API endpoint development.

**Basic Qualifications:**

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

+ Demonstrated ability to attract talent, build teams and have fun.

+ 2+ years of experience in managing software development teams as a second-line manager.

+ A Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

+ 5+ years of professional software development experience; at least 2 years with microservices architecture.

+ Strong programming experience with one or more of the following frameworks: React.js, Angular.js, VUE.js and JavaScript ES6.

+ Proficiency in at least one widely used server-side programming language (Java, Python, Go, C#, etc.).

+ Expertise with core Computer Science fundamentals, including Object-Oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.

+ While this role does not require writing of tests, you should still bring a strong focus on Quality Engineering to ensure quality code with minimal regression.

+ Phenomenal communication and collaboration skills and a team-focused approach towards software development.

+ Ability to trace data through varying systems and debug where issues occur.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Additionally, it would be a plus if you have experience with:

+ GraphQL.

+ TypeScript (CoffeeScript)

+ Experience working in AWS, GCP or Azure, and with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform

+ Experience with Lambda, SQS and rest of AWS Web Services suite.
