The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Departments highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Departments robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences currently has an outstanding opportunity for a MANAGER OF PROGRAM OPERATIONS.

Position Purpose:
The Manager of Program Operations for Integrated Care Training Program (ICTP) Innovations will serve as in a key leadership role as part of ICTP, a large and complex state-funded program focused on integration of mental health services into medical and community-based settings. 


Administration: 50%
  • Project manage ongoing initiatives, work with teams independently and report to Director of ICTP and Associate Director of Education Administration.
  • Supervise recruitment of trainees into the ICTP fellowship and Integrated Care Pathway and delivery of offerings through these programs.
  • Build, maintain and develop an effective administrative infrastructure to ensure strategic growth and integration.
  • Manage multifaceted projects that will support strategic planning and operational success.
  • Work closely with Associate Director to support evaluation and reporting efforts.
  • Manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Support faculty members with full breath of projects.
  • Work closely with Advancing Integrated Mental Health Solutions (AIMS) for project creation, implementation and coordination.

    Strategic and process improvement: 25%
  • Develop and implement creative ideas for engaging community colleges and other four year universities around Washington State regarding development of paraprofessional and baccalaureate curriculum to increase the total workforce capable of supporting integrated mental health services.
  • Partner to Director and Associate Director in providing analysis and support for strategic decisions using various methods to determine feasibility of projects.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on metrics for success of educational programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships with external and internal entities. Work with Director and Associate Director to implement process improvement processes.

    Financial Management and Development: 15%
  • Create reports for key stakeholder groups, including the Washington State legislature, documenting ICTP program activities, deliverables, budget expenditures, and program impact.
  • Develop and maintain spending forecast, monitor expenditures to insure they are appropriate and accomplish the programs goals.
  • Oversee project development for portfolio of new projects.

    Collaborations and other duties as assigned: 10%
  • Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Director, implement strategic initiatives in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Represents the Department on SOM committees and internal/external projects.
  • Lead ICTP across all existing part-time faculty and staff who work with the program.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Health-related discipline or any equivalent combination of education. Six or more years of experience in a related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience in developing and maintaining partnerships across a wide spectrum of stakeholder.
  • Demonstrated commitment to appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

    Desired Requirements:
  • Masters degree in business, education, or a health-related discipline.
  • At least 6-10 years of experience in developing and maintaining partnerships across a wide spectrum of stakeholder.
  • Experience in Psychiatry education, accreditation policy and standards
  • Successful history and ability to work on large, complex projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with experience presenting to large and diverse groups.
  • Excellent writing skills with experience in the academic setting.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives with multiple stakeholders with a variety of perspectives.
  • Track record of writing education grant and contract proposals and obtaining funding for education projects.

    Conditions of Employment:
    This position is contingent upon state funding.
