The University of Washington Timothy A. DeRouen Center for Global Oral Health is one of the few founding centers in the School of Dentistry. With its mission to improve quality of life by promoting collaboration and inclusivity in oral and craniofacial research that impacts global health, the DeRouen Center works in 4 sites around the world: Thailand, Kenya, Peru and Seattle. We work by adding the oral health component within already successful project in those sites therefore enhancing quality of life of communities. A very important part of our mission is to support oral health research career development of early career investigators. Our grant applications include training and development for investigators interested in oral health research.

The Manager of Program Operations will provide specialized program management and communications support at the UW Timothy A. DeRouen Center for Global Oral Health and management of the Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) program.

This position requires a skill set that includes programmatic, grant management and fiscal administration expertise, supervisory responsibilities, and the ability to independently problem-solve and communicate effectively with community members, investigators, clinicians, trainees, state HCA staff, non-profit foundations.

This position will connect research-related activities among the DeRouen Center and the UW SOD, the UW School of Public Health, the UW at-large, as well as external-based organizations who serve people affected by oral diseases. In addition, it will have responsibility for fiscal oversight and HCA reporting of the ABCD program, as well as supervising the Office Assistant responsible for day-to-day fiscal processes.

Duties & Responsibilities
o For ABCD, supports development of curricular content on infant and toddler oral health and patients with special needs. Supports development of training and mechanisms by which trainees can do self-guided study. Serves as main liaison with ABCD County Coordinators. Communicates with County Coordinators, Arcora, Health Care Authority, and other stakeholders statewide. Provides administrative support to ABCD faculty on program management, including event planning for continuing education and training activities. Interfaces with HCA for contract deliverables reporting.
Provides leadership, management and direction, and is responsible for the operation of DeRouen Center. Manages unit staffing and performance management; coordinates resources and workload to achieve objectives and strategies. (50%)
o Provides administrative support to ABCD faculty on program management, including event planning for continuing education and training activities. Interfaces with HCA for contract deliverables reporting. Manages unit staffing and performance; coordinates resources and work- load to achieve objectives and strategies. (20%)
o Works in the DeRouen Center development of strategic plans, budgets, and process improvements. Independently leads problem-solving and decision-making activities, within the program scope and change management process assessing risks and actions to accomplish program objectives. (10%)
o Collaboratively and dynamically develops, manages, and implements the DeRouen Centers strategic plan, including leading planning meetings developing agendas, working with interns and staff, overseeing periodic review of the DeRouen Centers mission and goals; and developing annual work plans; managing resources, and tracking and reporting on deliverables and outcomes. (10%)
o Manages DeRouen Center research proposal consultation process, working with researchers who are applying for internal and external grant funding, grant applications and renewal processes; and interact with UW at large and working groups to develop collaborative activities with the DeRouen Center. Interacts with sponsors (e.g. National Institutes of Health) and others. Tracks for the achievement of program goals, objectives, budget and timelines. Determines and establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to leadership approval. (5%)
o Develops program strategy, program planning, implementation plan and program metrics. Ensures high quality and minimum program costs by implementing and maintaining a quality management program across all programs responsible for. Decisions would affect the financial, employee, or public relations posture of DeRouen Center. (5%)

o Masters Degree in Public Health and 2 years of related experience.
o Evidence of commitment to diversity and of experience working with diverse population.

o Comfortable working within and across diverse cultures; displays effective resource management, team-orientation, collaborative style and outlook, highly credible - earns trust and respect.
o Familiarity with NIH grant applications; experience editing websites, experience in budgeting and research administration.
o Believes in collaborating, shares information and resources and operates cross-functionally.  High level of accountability - drives for results, displays a sense of ownership, and is passionate about attaining goals and surpassing expectations.  Proactive problem solver - melds analytic reasoning with practical knowledge.
