Job Summary:

Reporting to the Administrative Director of the Heart Hospital, this position is responsible for the effective management of personnel, department operations, and capital budgets.  Responsible for strategic planning, business development, performance improvement, leadership development, staff retention/recruitment, and overall direction of the department.

Responsibilities:

Provide effective leadership by coordinating and integrating system-wide Cardiac Diagnostic services within the department, with other departments, and across Prisma Health.

Administrative oversight for the cardiovascular clinic operations to include suppport staff for the LVAD, Valve and Heart Failure Clinics.

Implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services.

Manage departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.

Manage department human resources by: determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management.

Continuously assess and improve the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities.

Manage information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.

Manage the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks; preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors.


Requirements: 

Education: Bachelors Degree in health services or related field required, Masters Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years technical experience with two years supervisory experience or three years management experience required; proven leadership capabilities required.

Number and Type of Employees Supervised: 50 - 60 staff comprised of technical, clerical, nursing, or support staff.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Vacsular Technologist or equivalent.  Current CPR required prior to start date directly through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the military. (To register: Blended Learning or In Person CPR AED through the American Red Cross;or Classroom or Skills Session Heartsaver CPR AED through the American Heart Association. Certification must include an in-person skills session.)

Special Training: Basic accounting, typing skills, knowledge of all exams (EKG, echo, and vascular), and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
