Position description
The Manager, Benefactor Service Associates provides direct supervision to our front line service representative within the Department of Development, engaging with Annual Giving, Office of Gift Planning, Events, Recognition and Operations. The Managers serves as a critical first point of contact for Benefactor Service Associates and coordinates schedules, meetings, ad-hoc department service requests and daily oversight of the Associates activity. This role will also have a portfolio of service activity that aligns with the Associate’s activity. The Manager and Associates will serve as an "on-call" resource during business hours responding to the full scope of inquiries, including face-to-face meetings with individuals. During the on-call interactions, the Manager and Associates will qualify and assess major gift potential and triage to Prospect Management to maximize philanthropy as appropriate. Occasionally, the Manager will assist development officers in meeting and escorting benefactors when the primary assigned development officer is unavailable.

Additional responsibilities include facilitation of team meetings, onboarding new Associates and continued education and professional development for the Associates. There will also be telephone, email and written interaction with prospects and benefactors to express gratitude, confirm event attendance, stewardship and personal mailings for birthdays and anniversaries.The Manager will ensure the Associates will be fully integrated into the Department of Development team in order to best respond to business needs. They will be most closely aligned to the Annual/Mid-level Giving program, Prospect Management, Office of Gift Planning, and Central Region fundraising. The role requires significant focus on responding to benefactor inquiries and directing these inquiries appropriately to meet the needs of the benefactor. Minimal travel required.

Development professionals at Mayo Clinic are required to adhere to the “Donor Bill of Rights” and ethical standards set forth for the department and the institution.
Bachelor's degree required. Five years of experience in customer service management, donor relations, annual fund, special events, stewardship of benefactors and/or customers/clients. An understanding of the philanthropic process is desirable. Incumbent must be a self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized individual who will promote a productive, collegial workplace and be a professional ambassador for Mayo Clinic. The Manager must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct is essential.

Must be capable of working collaboratively in a complex organization. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Must have demonstrated competencies in leadership and project management. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The incumbent must have strong analytical abilities to continuously improve program outcomes. Must be able to represent Mayo professionally in working with six-figure and greater gift prospects and benefactors and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
License or certification
A valid driver’s license is required.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,723.20, based on a full-time position.
