Job Description:

Under general supervision, responsible for performing a wide variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Able to identify problems and issues in straightforward situations resulting in escalating issues to supervisor or support team for resolution. Intermediate comprehension and interpretation of a variety of technical specifications, including IPC/J-STD knowledge, terms, and documents. Ability to complete less structured assignments determining and/or following methods and sequence of assembly operations. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications and work authorization documentation. May work with complex machines or computer systems. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Fully participates/engages in team meetings with a positive attitude.

Essential Functions:

  • Torque hardware to specified torque value requirements
  • Insert contacts with wires to connectors
  • Mix and apply chemicals/adhesives to hardware
  • Apply touch-up paint to final assemblies
  • Utilize assisted magnification such as halo and/or microscope when needed
  • Perform rework on assemblies
  • Read and follow documented work instructions consistently
  • Navigate electronic computer program for work instructions, data collections, and sign offs
  • Perform daily and weekly 5S checklist items for FOD cleanliness and organization
  • Work with attention to detail, check own work so defects don’t get passed forward
  • Develop ideas or collaborate with engineering for fixtures/tooling
  • Participation and engagement in team meetings

    Qualifications: 

    • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
    • 2+ years experience installing screws or other hardware to required torque values.
    • 2+ years experience mixing and applying adhesives/chemicals.

      Preferred Additional Skills:

      • Knowledge of MIL/ IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (Mil-Std 883, Mil-Perf-38534, IPC-610, etc.).
      • IPC 610 & 620 Certification or working knowledge of IPC/J-STD acceptance criteria
      • Measure, cut, and strip wires including crimping contacts
      • Lamination process experience (circuit cards to heatsinks)
      • Experience measuring and mixing 2-part chemicals
      • Ability to hand solder components and/or wires to circuit cards
      • Experience developing ideas or collaborating with engineering for fixtures/tooling
      • Lean Manufacturing & Kaizen experience
      • Computer proficiency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      • Experience with MES computer programs
