Legal Data Quality & Governance Associate

The Legal Chief Data Office (CDO) is responsible for Legal data and knowledge strategy, architecture, governance, and capabilities across the Global Legal department. As the data and knowledge champions for Legal, the CDO will set the direction and approach to implement effective and best-in-class data and knowledge management frameworks, controls and capabilities for Legal-owned data and knowledge assets.

As such, the Legal CDO team will be responsible for all aspects of defining and executing strategies for managing, sharing and extracting value from Legal-owned data and knowledge assets.

Within that remit, the Legal CDO is hiring an experienced Data Quality & Governance Associate who will be responsible for the identification, quantification (through metrics and KPIs), and remediation of Legal data quality issues. The Data Quality & Governance Associate will assist the Data Quality Lead on the Legal CDOs efforts to elevate Data quality maturity processes and outcomes across the function, taking our capabilities beyond being reactive and towards being increasingly proactive and preventative. This will involve active collaboration with relevant stakeholders both within and outside of Legal to comprehensively identify and formalize data quality requirements, while also working closely with the Legal CDOs Data Capabilities Team to implement solutions that address data issues both pragmatically and structurally for the long-term.


The Data Quality & Governance Associates responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

+ Assisting in the definition of the Legal functions Data quality metrics, in line with firmwide standards, guidance and policies on data quality

+ Setting the requirements for an analytics platform to automate monitoring of data quality issues, and working with partner organizations to effectively deploy that platform

+ Assisting in the definition of KPIs and standards for measuring the negative impact of data quality issues, and conversely the positive value from remediation steps taken, in alignment with firm objectives

+ Continuous monitoring of data quality metrics, reporting on same in various firmwide governance forums, and ensuring that both tactical and strategic remedial action is taken in a timely, prioritized fashion to address these data quality issues

+ Triaging and analyzing data quality issues including identifying root causes through effective communication with relevant Legal teams, technology partners and other stakeholders

+ Defining data quality reports in line with firmwide guidelines, policies and standards

+ Implementing data traceability, data lineage, and metadata enrichment capabilities for Legal data

+ Implementing a data cataloguing program for Legal data

+ Acting as change management advocate to drive adoption of Legal Data Solutions, including proactive communication of the roadmap, direct involvement in end-user change management efforts, etc.

+ Ensuring that all Legal Data Solutions addressing prioritized use cases are deployed consistently with Citi Data Governance standards, support Citis data quality objectives, and implement the requisite controls and metrics to ensure appropriate alignment with Citis defined Data Risk Appetite

+ Ongoing monitoring of solution performance, user adoption, and business value delivered


+ 7+ years of Data quality management & data governance

+ Experience in implementing and using analytics tool sets

+ Change management experience within a complex organization, preferably in investment banking or finance, with particular focus on technology and data solutions

+ Exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong user discovery and technology technical skills

+ Proven ability to act independently, work quickly and with careful attention to detail, juggle multiple priorities and thrive in a varied, fast-paced environment

+ Proven ability to lead across a large, global organization preferably a financial firm

+ Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines

+ Proven ability to communicate effectively, drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels

+ Strong analytical/problem solving skills; sound judgment and demonstrated leadership skills

+ Bachelors degree required
