Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer for a growing product portfolio in our Dulles, VA office. Experience with network systems architectures and requisite Linux background. Responsible for supporting Operations & Maintenance, documentation, report requirements, integration, troubleshooting and/or testing analysis of network architecture/operating systems and applications. Additionally, Leads a skilled team of network technicians and engineers.

Roles & responsibilities will include though not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for assisting in planning and implementing the necessary hardware, software and telecommunications equipment to maintain and/or enhance the customer’s local and wide-area networks.
  • Evaluate vendor products and recommend purchases consistent with the organization’s short and long-term objectives.
  • Recommend and implement network policies and procedures and ensure adherence to security procedures.
  • Candidate will help troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve medium to complex network issues.
  • Leads Tier II/III support staff
  • May require after-hours, phone or on-site support.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of design, installation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure following established methodologies and processes.
  • Perform hardware scans, analysis, and documenting findings. Support/facilitate customer meetings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform extensive root cause analysis, problem determination and support of technical issues related to routing and switching technologies, e.g. VPN, basic router configurations, firewalls, etc.
  • Self-motivation, able to work well independently and within inter-disciplinary engineering teams. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on experience with network equipment. Five years working knowledge of Layer-3, VPNs, OSPF, firewall policy, and VLAN management.


    • Bachelors Degree and 9+ years prior related experience, Graduate degree and 6+ years relevant experience, or equivalent
    • Electronic/Network systems integration, assembly or test experience required
    • Verifiable Network/Sys Admin operations skill set and experience with network troubleshooting
    • Network+ certification or equivalent
    • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
    • Clearance: Active Secret or above US Government security clearance

      Preferred Additional Skills:

      • Security+ certification or equivalent
      • Management experience of technical teams
      • Must be detail-oriented and organized
      • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Working knowledge of Atlassian products such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket
      • Knowledge of certificate-based security (TLS, SSL, OCSP)
      • Knowledge of Windows operating systems
      • Experience implementing patches for IA vulnerability alerts (IAVA), IA vulnerability bulletins (IAVB), and technical advisories (TA) for the CE operating system(s).
      • Knowledge of object-oriented databases; MySql experience preferred
      • Experience developing/using scripting languages such as PERL, Python, Bash, etc. required
      • Knowledge of networking elements, including TCP/IP protocols & ports, DNS, NAT, subnet masks, etc.
      • Experience interpreting connection logs & IP Config information
