A Day in the Life:


You will lead a small team of Process Development engineers in new product development activities, with specific responsibility for developing robust and capable manufacturing processes. You will provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within the team. You will lead Equipment and Process Development and Process Qualification to support new product introduction.


You will participate on cross-functional development teams that manage projects from concept through commercialization and will have a central technical role within the project team that considers requirements from RD and commercial manufacturing. As a seasoned individual contributor, you will provide solutions to complex technical problems associated with processes and equipment using robust problem-solving techniques and project management methodologies. You will be involved in process innovation with emphasis on improving quality, reducing process variation, reducing cycle time and cost down initiatives.


You will drive results on project teams, through building relationships and strong technical decision making. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


+ Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

+ Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

+ Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

+ Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

+ May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

+ Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

+ Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

+ Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

+ Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.


Required:


BS in Engineering with at least 4 years relevant experience


Must have extensive practical experience, and solid understanding of mechanical design principles, testing and manufacturing processes


Experience with mechanical design including use of Solidworks or other computer modeling software


Nice to Have:


Working knowledge of statistical tools such as DOE, SPC, Hypothesis Testing and Process Capability Studies


Knowledge of Statistical Software


Previous experience in new product development, including DFSS/ DFM activities in the early phase of new product design


Experience in the design or manufacturing of medical devices


Ability to identify and resolve issues without direct supervision


Excellent communication skills both written and verbal


Proficient in common computer skills such as Word and Excel


Experience in project management and leading small teams


Fluent in English, both in writing and speaking


Familiarity with DMAIC/A3 problem solving approach


DRM Green Belt
