L3Harris is seeking an individual to join the FAA ODA as a Mechanical Systems Unit Member. This individual will be responsible for determination of airworthiness relative to FAA and Military airworthiness standards. 

You will demonstrate success by:  

  • As a member of the ODA, you will have the opportunity to participate in a team-oriented environment working with other engineering Unit Members who are focused on airworthiness of the products we deliver to our customers.
  • You may also act as Certification Task Leader for some projects, tracking programmatic issues involving airworthiness as well as managing project cost/schedule performance of your ODA Certification Team.

      Qualifications: 

      • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree with a minimum of nine (9) years of aircraft mechanical systems experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • Must be capable of becoming an FAA ODA Unit Member approving aircraft modifications and repairs performed by L3Harris on behalf of the FAA
      • Experience in one or more of the following aircraft Mechanical Systems areas: air conditioning systems, hydraulic systems, oxygen systems, fire protection systems, water/ waste water systems, and ice protection systems.
      • Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.  

        Preferences: 

        • Experience with 14 CFR Part 23 or Part 25 Airworthiness Standards.
        • Previous experience as an ODA Unit Member or FAA Designated Engineering Representative.
        • Familiarity with FAA Order 8110.101 Type Certification for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft.
        • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 Airworthiness Certification Criteria.
        • Experience with Systems Safety and Interior Compliance.
        • Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact with a cross functional team.
        • Ability to work some overtime if required as well as some travel.
        • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
