**Role Value Proposition:**

The lead communications strategist is an experienced communications professional who serves as a global business partner, providing strategic communications counsel and support to senior business leaders in Human Resources.

This individual will work closely with his/her colleagues in Communications and HR to develop comprehensive internal communications and external strategy to support various HR priorities, including in areas such as compensation and benefits; diversity and inclusion; shared services; performance development. This role also supports HR-to-HR communications. The lead communications strategist will support leadership communications, including the CEOs quarterly Leadership Group Meetings and all aspects of project management for these events.

This individual will be one of the teams subject matter experts on HR-related communications, and will partner with MetLifes communications and business teams to brainstorm, pitch, write, produce, and distribute stories both internally and externally. Communications and media relations will be strategic and tactical creating awareness, excitement, and understanding of HR priorities and processes.

This person will also be responsible for effectively utilizing internal social platforms, video, blogs, live events and more to communicate. He/she will be a savvy and confident communicator, as well as a team player, consulting with colleagues and business leaders on appropriate media, communication methods, and key messages to best reach target audiences.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategy and plans on the corporate level across multiple internal channels: online, video, print, and events.
+ Leverage relationships with key media and industry figures in support of HR priorities as appropriate.
+ Identify industry and market trends to understand key perceptions, motivations and drivers related to employee engagement, workforce trends and HR strategy.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**

+ Partner with several internal business groups to proactively lead and execute communication projects and campaigns that align with, articulate and support the company's key messages, business priorities and growth initiatives, as well as influence a positive culture and engaged employee base.
+ Work across traditional and digital channels, as well as geographic regions, to tailor programs based on understanding of local business needs and priorities.
+ Engage and direct global and regional leaders so they play an active role in the communication process with their teams.
+ Drive new approaches to deliver communications in more creative, efficient, and effective ways by challenging processes and recommending new approaches.
+ Use measurement tools to assess the impact of communications programs to refine activities
+ Work effectively through shared processes with others at all levels within the organization. **Supervisory and Relationship Management Responsibilities:** Ability to lead and motivate project team members that are not direct reports.

Required:

+ 8+ years relevant business experience, including written and multimedia content.
+ Superior project management skills and attention to detail.
+ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex information internally and externally.
+ Self-starter with an ability to handle a variety of responsibilities by taking initiative.
+ Proven relationship management skills.
+ Proven blended PR and social media skills.
+ Must have the ability to understand cultural nuances.
+ Must be a reliable and flexible team player with a friendly and professional attitude.
+ Creative ideation

Preferred:

+ Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or related discipline.
+ Experience in creative-related industries, experience producing content for a variety of emerging digital platforms, HR communications and employee engagement fundamentals.
