National Grid is Hiring a Lead Analyst, Category Product Management – Solar and Storage in our Waltham, MA location. Job Purpose
The Product Owner, Solar and Storage, will lead a specific portfolio of products within one area by securing and managing products to ensure that products meet customer and stakeholder requirements, within budget and with minimal operational disruption. Responsible for all product activities including innovation, design, piloting, supporting and implementing market strategy, and product management. Key Accountabilities
Work with the Regulatory and Customer Strategy – Solar and Storage team to determine customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information. Assesses market competition and landscape by comparing the company's products to the alternatives. Identifies market failures that can present an opportunity for the company to fill a gap. Develops business and investment plans and models that would maximize various evolving economic value streams of DERs while integrating with the existing business utility business model. Leads the introduction of new Solar and Storage products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering, vendors and the delivery groups (where applicable) Supports products from the start-up phase to maturity with collaborative oversight and training; provide ongoing program support as necessary throughout program lifecycles. Product Management Monitor and control allocated Solar and Storage product resources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting to ensure projects are delivered according to schedule and within budget. Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes. Influence the discussion around industry standards and their adoption across the Solar and Storage group and all internal stakeholders Coordinate with company’s internal stakeholders on standards for data, communications, network and asset management and ownership. Brings new products to market in support of National Grid’s priorities; by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development needs; establishing time schedules with marketing, engineering, IT and other functions. Develops go-to-market plans that include introduction and promotion of new products by developing time-integrated plans with marketing, sales, strategy (regulatory, customer, and corporate) and jurisdictional teams. Regularly appraises current products and their positioning; establishes/executes update schedules integrating releases with marketing, sales and regional teams. Ensures the effectiveness of existing products and services in the marketplace and establishes continuous improvement actions to correct any issues that might be preventing the full development of a product or a service. Makes investment recommendations within the category to ensure there is a healthy portfolio of existing products and services as well as a robust pipeline of new ideas for future products and services. Participates in regulatory filings, including developing testimony, presenting to regulatory bodies, testifying, and responding to information requests. Ensures that Future of Heat products and services support the company’s overall strategy and goals. Also ensures that those products and services are meeting the expectations of regulators and stakeholders. Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Advanced stakeholder engagement skills. Advanced project management skills. Good contract management skills. Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Requirements: This position requires driving. Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy. BA in business related field or BS in engineering or economics or Advance Degree in Product Management Exceptional communication skills Experience with developing and interpreting financial forecasts and business models Experience in clean energy is preferred. Ideal if the person has experience in the category. Is recognized as a credible, knowledgeable, and effective professional who drives change, builds collaborative networks across multiple geographies and end to end processes, and delivers results. Demonstrates the ability to translate customer needs and market conditions into solutions, balancing the value of different solutions; understands how best to utilize them and drive greater performance, taking into account the wider business context. Extensive knowledge and experience in utility operations and regulation. Is visionary in understanding the issues which National Grid is facing today with the ability to make complex ideas or situations clear, simple, and easy to understand. More Information
