Essential Functions

With limited supervision, the engineering technician is responsible for any combination of technical duties which require a high degree of accuracy in one or more of the following functions: Test design and specification of component or systems for test, data acquisition, programming, featuring design, calibration, test documentation, support of production requested tests and root cause analysis of warranty failures. Primary responsibilities include partnering with design engineers and potential/existing customers on major development projects, utilizing data acquisitions systems including LabVIEW and Dataq to collect data, and PLCs or other controllers to specify and run tests. The Engineering technician is an essential member of the project team who adds value through his/her knowledge of product validation, performance and audit testing. This knowledge allows the testing process to flow from the requirements of system/product design and ensure continuity with previous testing processes and projects. The Engineering Technician will support the design team in specifying tests, ensuring timely implementation and documentation of tests and be the expert in the acquiring of data on products both in the lab and on the customer’s site. Additionally, the Engineering Technician will play an integral role in defining and executing tests to determine root cause of failures in warranty and prototype components. Test Design and Specification The engineering technician will work with the design team to understand the requirements of the test and ensure the test design, created by the engineering technician or design team, meets these requirements. Test Implementation The engineering technician will work either leverage existing test equipment and set-ups in the lab or design a suitable set-up for the required tests. The design efforts will be completed in either Pro/Engineer or AutoCAD Inventor CAD softwares. The engineering technician will work with internal or external fabrication resources to build components or subassemblies for the test set-up. The completed test set-ups will be instrumented by the engineering technician with a suitable data acquisition system to gather data. Final integration of the complete set-up will be completed by the engineering technician. Once the test set-up is complete, the engineering technician will build up components or systems for test through direction from the design team and/or review of assembly drawings. During test implementation, the engineering technician will calibrate necessary measurement devices and verify the integrity and accuracy of the test set-up by running off initial cycles and gaining agreement from the design group. Additionally, this effort may include troubleshooting of the unit under test or data acquisition system to ensure test integrity. Documentation The engineering technician will exhibit a high degree of accuracy in documenting the outputs of the tests as defined by the test specification. This will involve written skills to effectively convey the results which will lead to analysis of these results based on previous testing and agreement with the design team. Qualifications

• 2 year degree Electronics Technology, Fluid Power Technology or relevant experience • Good oral and written communication skills • Works well without direct supervision • Previous experience with CAD software package – Pro/E or Inventor a plus • Previous experience with data acquisition – Dataq or LabVIEW a plus • Previous experience setting up automated tests • Assembly of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical components utilizing hand and powered tools • Standing 8 hours a day • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
