The Lab Technician is responsible for conducting experiments in the STT lab in Alachua. The primary function of the STT is to develop novel manufacturing and analytical platforms and technologies for use in cell and viral vector manufacturing.

The Lab Technician will work in the STT Laboratories to assist in meeting the goals of the STT group. Duties include Executing experiments, maintaining the STT laboratory, and assisting with other lab activities as required. The incumbent is expected to maintain a high standards for the work they perform.

Essential Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited, to the following duties:

Job Function

Ensure that experiments are executed according to design and well documented, including observations, deviations and results.

Maintenance of lab supply inventory, cleaning of labware/equipment/spaces, equipment maintenance, and disposal of hazardous waste

Knowledge, Skill, and Requirements:


Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 2 years related experience is required.

Excellent organization, planning, multi-tasking and communication required. Skills in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to function effectively as a member of a team is essential.

Work experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively communicate with personnel across multiple departments.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
