Job Description:

Under general supervision, the successful candidate will create formal engineering drawings/models and check that production documentation is accurate and conforms to manuals and other applicable standards. He or she will also ensure that documents depict all appropriate information that is necessary for the user of the document, and that such information is clear and cannot be interpreted incorrectly. 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare scale layout of drawings for PWA’s, PWB’s, mechanical piece parts, top level assemblies, schematics, interconnect diagrams, block diagrams, and additional drawings as required from design inputs and specifications submitted by Engineers and Designers.
  • Candidate will be the CAD Library Admin, and will work with Engineers and Designers to create new symbols and footprints.  They will also be responsible for resolving internal user issues with ECAD tools, research new features, and coordinate upgrades with IT.
  • Create and incorporate Engineering Change Orders with minimal support.
  • Verify that dimensions are proper with reasonable tolerances that are consistent with normal manufacturing practices.
  • Verify that drafting standards established are followed to insure a uniform documentation system.
  • Verify accuracy of schematics and wiring diagrams from sketches or other established information and assure that printed circuit artwork agrees with the electrical requirements and follows the necessary design and fabrication guidelines. 
  • Follow Company policies and procedures, along with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Estimate man-hours required to complete various assignments. Make verbal and written status reports as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience OR a 2 year post-Secondary/Associates Degree and a minimum or 6 years of related experience.
    • Experience in detailing and designing in a field which involves electromechanical development.
    • At least 2 years of drafting/design experience in a production environment.
    • Experience with printed circuit board, machine shop and sheet metal processes, as well as being knowledgeable of electronic manufacturing methods.

      Preferred Additional Skills:

      • Familiar with and use of ACAD, OrCAD, PADS Layout and SolidWorks or similar CAD/CAM packages.
      • Vocational school training preferred (with emphasis in Electrical Mechanical Drawing, Mathematics, Shop Practice, etc.).
      • Experience with drafting and documentation practices used in the electronic industry.
