Duties & Responsibilities

\u2022 Participate in the ongoing development of the Laboratory Information Management System for sample tracking, meta-data recording and flow control for a clinical laboratory and high-throughput DNA sequencing facility\u2022 Work with management and staff to understand laboratory workflows and define requirements to facilitate sample receipt, processing, location management and delivery documentation;\u2022 Optimize workflows to improve efficiency, fault tolerance and error trapping / recovery;\u2022 Collaborate with team members on requirements analysis, design, configuration, change and risk management, documentation, planning, accessibility remediation and compliance, and security and quality assurance;\u2022 Participate in the prototyping and testing of new software;\u2022 Prepare documentation and provide end-user training and support as necessary;\u2022 Establish productive working relationships and maintain effective communications with teammates and end-users.


\u2022 Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering;\u2022 3+ years of object-oriented design and data modeling experience using modern technologies;\u2022 3+ years developing software using Java and related technologies/frameworks;\u2022 1+ years of experience working with databases and SQL queries;\u2022 Knowledge/expertise in the following programming languages/technologies: Spring, Bootstrap, XML, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Maven, JUnit, Web Service, SOAP, REST; \u2022 Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills;\u2022 Demonstrated ability to work with a production team, actively participating in the design, testing and troubleshooting of software;\u2022 Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills;\u2022 Willingness to learn the biological concepts of modern molecular biology and NextGen Sequencing.


Preferred Qualifications:

\u2022 Prior experience working at the National Institutes of Health;\u2022 Scripting experience using JavaScript, Python, or Perl;\u2022 Linux experience; \u2022 Azure or AWS experience.
