The IT Compliance Lead:

  • Provides senior-level consultation and direction to functional areas on IT Quality and  Compliance policy, process, and procedures.
  • Identifies, proposes, initiates and leads significant improvement programs related to IT Quality and Compliance policy, processes and procedures.
  • Leads the IT Quality and Compliance activities across multiple projects/client areas.
  • Ensures that documentation is in compliance with policy and procedures and provides guidance to staff during review and approval of IT system documentation.
  • Develops and leads the implementation of testing methodologies and/or IT Quality and Compliance practices across multiple divisions.

    The IT Compliance Lead also:

    • Understands organization's vision, goals and strategies.
    • Develops appropriate IT strategies aligned with the business.
    • Champions change and innovation.
    • Stimulates creativity and innovation in others.
    • Is open to new ideas.
    • Supports those who initiate change and take risks.
    • Resolves issues that may delay multiple projects for multiple client areas across the division or otherwise subject the company to financial or regulatory risk.
    • Is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of compliance at a local level.
    • Performs work using standard methodologies, processes and tools to ensure IT Compliance.
    • Works with  IT Quality and Compliance staff in the analysis, development and implementation of metrics for assessing quality software processes and systems.
    • Oversees project tasks and timelines of staff members and is held accountable to them.
    • Develops business relationships and integrates activities with internal and external IT and QA departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts by ensuring consistent IT Compliance practices.
    • Identifies information required to support the business processes and collaborates in the development of appropriate strategies.
    • Represents site on cross divisional process improvement initiatives.
    • Assists in the establishment of regulated policies and procedures within the organization.
    • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with all levels in the Abbott IT organization, division business functions and with external partners.
    • Acts as a liaison and IT Compliance expert to assure successful implementations.
    • Serves as a source of information on the IT Compliance needs and regulatory environment.
    • May oversee and control department budgets, project budgets and RCEs; develops, monitors and meets expense, recovery and forecast plans; continually looks for opportunities for cost avoidance and cost reductions.
    • Ensures good communications at all management levels for a site regarding IT compliance practices.
    • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with all levels in Abbott IT organization and with external partners.
    • Acts as a liaison and regulatory compliance expert to IT organizations to assure successful implementation.
    • Serves as a source of information to IT organizations on the compliance needs and regulatory environment.
    • Significantly contributes to business process improvement and overall knowledge of the organization.
    • Makes strategic decisions that impact departments and or influences division/sites.


      • Bachelors Degree plus 7-10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Computer Science or Information Systems degree preferred.   7-10 years experience in quality systems analysis, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
