Job Summary

The Innovation DBS Leader is responsible for promoting and leading the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System within the Cepheid Engineering organization.  They will be results driven with a strong and proven ability to facilitate effective use of DBS tools.

The position of Innovation Danaher Business System Leader reports to the Senior Director Innovation DBSL with the primary responsibility to enable growth through the implementation and sustainment of continuous improvements to NPD processes, people who work on NPD teams, and leaders who oversee this phase of the product lifecycle.  This role functions as the leader within a cross-functional space bearing responsibility for driving improvement in the department level KPIs. They must have a working knowledge of the NPD growth equation and its€™ connection to those KPI€™s.  They will set the tone for a collaborative environment that values equity of voice and develop action plans to close the gaps and sustain any countermeasures implemented.  Integral to the role is support of the DBS Fundamentals across the organization. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the development and management of DBS fundamentals across the Engineering organization to achieve annual targets, department level goals, and project level KPI€™s.  This includes install and consistent use of daily management (DM) and problem-solving processes (PSP).
  • Develop and continuously improve processes within NPD teams, including tools from the DBS Growth and Leadership domains.
  • Link business needs and opportunities to DBS and develop a roadmap to close gaps, install/improve process, and sustain results.
  • Actively manage a DBS kaizen funnel to provide visibility of events, focus on gap closure, and sustainment.  Schedule, charter, and facilitate events according to the phases of this funnel.
  • Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with additional resources (DBSO, outside resources) where applicable, and improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others.
  • Participate in driving progression of candidates through a DBS Certified Practitioner (CP) funnel to build organization muscle and capability across the domains within DBS. 
  • Identify Danaher and Cepheid best practices, standardize and install such benchmarks across departments, organizations, and global sites. 
  • Train and install foundational capabilities in PD, Action Planning, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management, and Target To Improve (TTI) metrics.

      Qualifications

      Hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Thinks strategically and creates action to drive down to tactical levels. Is very customer focused and possesses strong interpersonal and communications skills. Rapidly adapts to Danaher€™s culture and gains the confidence of the organization.

    • Proven ability to consistently deliver results while influencing without authority. 
    • Ability to work with functions in the implementation of the DBS roadmap and implement key Innovation initiatives; successfully drives change, handles conflict / ambiguity. 
    • Technically capable €“ must possess the technical acumen to be credible in an Engineering organization
    • Superior skills in communications, training / adult learning, consulting / influencing; teamwork across disciplines, regions, and cultures.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in time management and action plan development and execution.
    • Experience managing people and/or projects
    • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training and facilitation environments

    • Minimum Education and Experience

    • Bachelor€™s degree in Engineering/Science with 8+ years of related work experience as practitioner with DBS or experience in continuous improvement environment (DBS, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, etc.). 
    • Master€™s degree in advanced Engineering/Science degree preferred with 6+ years of related work experience OR
    • Doctoral degree in afore mentioned fields with 3+ years of work experience.

      Travel %:

      • Travel ability is mandatory (domestic and international), expectations for this role are 10%.
