University of Washington Medical Center Ambulatory Care Division has an outstanding opportunity for a manager of University Reproductive Care. The manager is responsible for directing the nursing, business, technical and support activities of this ambulatory medical clinic. Oversees administrative and clinical functions of the clinic including operations, facilities, finance, human resources, and works collaboratively with School of Medicine in planning and development.

Job Duties Include:

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, performance improvement, disciplinary process and recommending termination of staff for the clinic.
Provides for and evaluates professional growth and development of clinic staff through identification of needs, sponsoring training programs, encouraging education (formal and continuing) efforts and evaluation of same.
Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluations for each staff member; conducts evaluations for new staff prior to completion of probationary period.
Counsels employees, develops staff and, as appropriate, utilizes the disciplinary process.
Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for clinic staff; participates in guidance of staff and promotion of educational programs.

Provides leadership in communicating and executing on organizational goals and objectives and being accountable to meeting these goals.
Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs; attends meetings, workshops to enrich personal knowledge, growth and management skills.
Works with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
Continually works on performance improvement activities within clinic. Applies process improvement standards, programs and resources.
Serves as a resource to others (medical staff, clinic staff and other clinic managers)
Serves as role model in demonstrating flexibility and positive response under stressful situations.
Fosters good public relations for the clinic.
Consults other clinical departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in operations and performance improvement activities.
Collaborates directly with Health Sciences Department Director regarding budget, access, referral/volume development and physician productivity.

Coordinates and directs the patient care program to ensure patients needs are met and that facility policies are followed in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
Performance reflects age specific knowledge in all areas of patient care specific to medical specialty.
Monitors patient scheduling, procedure and laboratory schedules, referrals and clinic capacity issues, and takes necessary action to address problems.
Monitors utilization of equipment and supplies; oversees supply ordering program.
Effectively maintains all required records for the clinic; demonstrates good organizational skills.
Plans and conducts staff meetings and ensures meeting notes are available.
Assumes the role of patient advocate regarding guidelines found in the Patient Bill of Rights.
Supervises staff to ensure quality of patient care, evidence-based practice appropriate to specialty is integrated into clinic operations. Oversights nursing care in procedural suite as well as clinic practice.

Responsible for ensuring adherence to Compliance Program policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Ensures that documentation meets current standards and policies and is completed for each clinic visit by clinic staff.
Ensures that clinic staff follows Facility-Only Billing guidelines and charges appropriately for services provided.
Completes required documentation including audits and surveys on time. Follows-up on problems identified through audit process.
Ensures that clinic meets regulatory standards (ex. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control/high level disinfection

Models customer service standards for staff and practitioners.
Responsible for addressing patient complaints.
Monitors and plans customer service initiatives to better meet needs of patients.

Develops, justifies and maintains a fiscal plan (budget) for the clinic.  Monitors patient revenues, expenses and operating expenses (salaries and capital expense items) and provides appropriate reports to the Director and Medical Director as well as clinic staff and providers. Takes actions to correct problematic areas.
Manages charge documents to ensure timely submission.
Develops and implements business plans to enhance clinical services.
Manages clinic demand and volume to meet budgeted volume projections in collaboration with medical staff leadership. Takes corrective action if indicated.



Masters Degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Nursing, or other related field, or equivalent experience, required
Experience in reproductive endocrinology and IVF setting
Minimum of 4 years management/supervisory experience in a medical setting
Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel)
EMR proficiency
Demonstrated leadership experience, working collaboratively with medical leadership and staff.
Demonstrated ability to manage the financial performance of the clinic.
Demonstrated knowledge of ensuring compliance with billing policies.
Demonstrated ability in process improvement to optimize clinic flow and operations.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilities cooperation and collaboration to meet goals.
Demonstrated skill in Human Resources management such that staff are productive and function well as a team. Ability to have tough conversations as needed, counsel staff and utilize corrective disciplinary process as needed.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH and other regulatory agency standards
Demonstrated excellence in customer service in daily interactions with patients, family members and medical staff.
