UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing technology solutions to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW. UW-IT is currently looking for a Program Director who will support the UW-IT work on Finance Transformation, the Universitys large scale project to modernize finance operations, business systems and processes. The position leads the newly established UW-IT FT program (UWIT-F).

UW-IT has an outstanding opportunity for a Implementation Director.

The Implementation Director position provides executive leadership to the newly established UW-IT FT program (UWIT-F). This new role is a critical team member who will shape the direction, planning and resourcing activities to drive an efficient and effective program. The Program Director is a position that requires a unique blend of strategical foresight and tactical acumen.  A person who understands the big picture and ramifications and ripple effects, while still being able to work with the individual project teams to ensure that those projects are delivered and fit the overall objectives.

The Implementation Director will define the overall program, including resource management strategy for the program, engagement model, work streams and all program activities. The position will report to the Universitys Chief Information Officer (CIO).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science discipline related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six or more years experience in Program/Project Management and track record of successfully delivering Enterprise Level programs.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, including supervision of diverse staff in a deadline-driven environment and cultivation of trust, strong collaboration and professional development on a high-performing team.
  • Experience communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders, including customers, governance teams and key process stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively across organizational boundaries, building relationships, and importing and exporting talent and ideas to achieve a broader organizational goal.
  • Leadership/Management Experience Leading teams varying in size up to 150 and matrixed leadership.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    DESIRED:

  • Masters Degree.
  • PMP and demonstrated project management excellence.
  • Experience in formulating, negotiating and developing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Experience in a leadership role in a shared services environment.
  • Program Management Certified.
  • SCRUM, Agile, SAFe Certified.
  • WorkDay Enterprise Implementation experience.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Open office environment.
    This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
    This is an essential position and requires the individual to report to work remotely when UW suspends operations.
