HMC RADIOLOGY - ANGIOGRAPHY has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary/hourly variable shift IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST - ANGIOGRAPHY. Under general direction from the Imaging Lead and/or Imaging Supervisor, the person in this role will perform complex technical procedures and assist physicians during clinical and research examinations such as angioplasties, embolization's and intracranial chemotherapy treatments. Additionally, this individual will participate in the training of residents, fellows and students.

Standards of Daily Practice

Independently performs and assists the physicians in performing all vascular procedures in body, neuro, and cardiac. Including, but not limited to Embolization, Angioplasty, Drug Infusions, Stent and Filter placements, and Pressure measurements.

Participates in performing diagnostic interventional Angiograms; monitors patient vital signs and conditions during examinations; performs Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) if necessary.

Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: PACS, MacLab, IntelliShelf/MPOUS, Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System. Able to print and retrieve images. Can implement downtime procedures as needed.

Assists in training new angiography technologists and residents. Participates in formal training programs for residents, fellows, and student technologists.

Prepares patient for examination: explaining the procedure, making sure there is a signed consent form. Prepare the area of access using sterile technique.

Performs or assists with Angiography procedures in areas outside Angio suite such as Operating Room, using the OEC c-arm and Procedure Room 1.

Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure.

o Related narcotics - administration
o Familiarity with use and location of catheters, wires, stents, film, and embolization materials
o Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies

This position is involved with patients included in the following age groups:
o Infant, 0-1 year Pre-teen to teen, 10-16 years
o Toddler, 1-4 years Adult, 15-65 years
o Child, 5-9 years Geriatric, 65 years and above

Will be required to work on-call.

Performs other related duties as needed.

Condition of Employment: 

Works in clinical or patient care areas of Radiology Department.

Regularly exposed to radiation and chemicals with little chance of injury when established safety procedures are followed.

Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and tuberculosis with little or no chance of injury when established safety procedures are followed.

Work requires regular walking, standing and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as pushing stretchers and helping move patients on and off tables. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school, registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),


equivalent education/experience.

Legal Requirement

Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.
