UWMC Radiology - Angiography has an outstanding opportunity to fill multiple part time temporary/hourly Interventional Radiology Technologists (Angiography). The Imaging Tech - Angiography performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. This role functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.

The Angiography Imaging Technologist is able to independently produce high quality images. Competent in the use of all Angiography/Interventional equipment. Follows all outlined safety protocols while ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality. Assists the Radiologist and other physicians with a wide range of procedures. Competent in the use of all relevant computer systems.

Understands, is able to independently operate, and practices proper use of all equipment to include:
All Philips FD20 exam rooms
RFA Generators
Physio monitoring equipment
All IVUS units
RFA units
IRE units
All Ultrasound machines
Able to troubleshoot minor problems with radiology equipment
Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor, shift lead, or Clinical Engineering
Practices proper aseptic techniques following use of all equipment
Excellent working knowledge of inventory selection for each procedure
Able to monitor and maintain proper inventory levels

Schedules, begins, completes, and cancels exams in RIS,  Patient Tracker, Spacetrax as indicated
Knowledge of RIS, Patient Tracker, Spacetrax and PACS to perform daily duties
Follows department guidelines for documenting dose in RIS,  Patient Tracker,  Spacetrax and Dose Watch(If applicable)
Documents any contrast or medications used during imaging in RIS, Spacetrax and Patient Tracker
Verifies all images sent to PACS
Reconciles any unspecified images in PACS and manages exceptions in RIS
Able to images process pre, during and post procedures
Able to merge exams in PACS
Demonstrates knowledge in EPIC and ORCA
Demonstrates knowledge of white board (If applicable)
Ensure that all supplies are billed properly in HEMM
Chooses correct patient from work list or enters required patient information to maintain an accurate permanent record of test results

Examines all orders for accuracy in determining if signs and symptoms match exam ordered and follows departmental protocols.  Clarifies orders with ordering physician
Explains study to the patient, appropriately questions patient for exam to be performed, instructs, and assists patients in proper positioning for the examination
Selects equipment and settings to optimize the image for diagnostic purposes as described by UWMC protocol
Exercises independent judgment and is able to tailor examination relative to patients clinical presentation and pathophysiological state  
Appropriately monitors and communicates with the patient during exam and is able to assess patient pain and notify proper personnel for intervention if necessary    
Practices proper room set-up and clean-up for all procedures
Evaluates images for technical quality and accurate positioning
Independently performs and evaluate both clinical and research examinations
Completes all examinations assigned in an efficient and timely manner without reduction in exam quality   
Performs work accurately and quickly even during peak workloads and maintains an acceptable volume of examinations as described by department policies
Practices proper sterile techniques prior and during procedures
Proper handling and labeling of specimens post procedure

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health errors
Performs all quality control checks as prescribed and contacts the appropriate staff in the event of a system or equipment malfunction
Follows all departmental policies regarding radiation safety and shielding patients
Chooses and correctly labels all contrast and medications under the direction of the Radiologist
Screens all patients for allergies and contrast contraindications prior to exam.  Appropriately  questions patient regarding history, allergies, and pregnancy
Appropriate use of TLDs for pregnant patient and fetus
Uses appropriate labeling for all imaging
Follows department protocols for all imaging studies
Know basic CPR to assist in patient care
Initiates and participates in all Final Verification/Time Out with all staff members present for any procedures
Always uses personal protection (wears lead protection

Orient, educates, and provides a positive learning environment for students, trainees, technologists, residents, and fellows
Completes annual educational requirements
Maintains required certifications
Helps others when necessary
Consistently performs good work flow management
Consistently communicate effectively with staff and patients
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to independently use KRONOS timekeeping system and follows the Departments guidelines
Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school, registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),


equivalent education/experience.

Legal Requirement

Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.

Desired Skills:

Completion of a 3-month formal clinical/didactic training program in the applicable modality AND 6 months as a Registered Technologist OR 1 year as a Registered Technologist AND completion of advanced course work in the applicable modality.
