Your Role and Responsibilities
Who you are

As iSeries SME, you are responsible to provide technical support with high degree of Customer Happiness by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and process compliance. You will perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters.

What will you do
  • Adopt the given technology to meet the drift of customer and business requirements
  • Set up a medium to large extent office, support data center services, remote servers, and set up remote site by configuring needed infrastructure
  • Analyse and research options for collaborates with exiting external systems.
  • Root Cause Analysis preparation and meeting Service level agreement for submission.
  • Assist in daily administration of IBM iSeries computer hardware and software.
  • Assist in installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM iSeries hardware, software, networked devices, journaling, and IBM MQ software.
  • Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required
  • Monitoring the system consoles for unusual conditions, and works with the system programming and production control staff to ensure the health and normal operation of the systems.
  • Problem determination and resolution within expected time frame.
  • Assume personal responsibility for resolving problems in most effective way possible within SLA reaching root cause and preventing problems.
  • Aid with identifying problem management trends

Role Description:


- Install the server operating system, system management software and operating system utilities
- Support the server operating system, system management software and operating system utilities, including upgrades
- Manage the operating system configuration
- Monitor and maintain operating system
- Recommend operating system updates and configuration modification
- Apply operating system patches as required
- Evaluate planned changes to the server environment and advise of any requirements to support such changes
- Maintain OS security
- Knowledge of High Availability solutions
- Resolving the occuring incidents
- Training the operators for the monitoring activities

Required Professional and Technical Expertise
  • 7+ years of Demonstrable Experience in AS400
  • Systems Management Specialist-IBM i-Technical Support - Responsible for IBM System i (formerly known as iSeries, AS/400, and Application System/400)
  • Support incoming tickets and solve client requests.
  • The scope of this job specialty includes preparation for new or updated services,
  • Management of the change process,
  • Management of performance of IBM System i systems and services.
  • Individuals in this specialty apply their IBM System i technical skills to support the operation and maintenance of IBM System i products (Hardware, Software).


Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Proficient in working with high availability environment along with alignment to process (ITIL)
  • You love collaborative environments that use agile methodologies to encourage creative design thinking and find innovative ways to develop with cutting edge technologies
  • Ambitious individual who can work under their own direction towards agreed targets/goals and with creative approach to work
  • Intuitive individual with an ability to manage change and proven time management
  • Proven interpersonal skills while contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications
