Human Resources Business Partner

The HR Business Partner serves as a consultant and trusted advisor to management and Associates of a particular client portfolio on all aspects of HR such as talent management, compensation, recruiting, workforce planning, employee relations, diversity, learning and development, and performance management.  The Human Resources Relationship Manager proactively assesses and anticipates HR-related needs of the business and partners with the necessary HR specialty area(s) to provide value-added services and solutions to management that support the business and align with its short- and long-term business strategies and objectives.

Typically, supports a portfolio of clients that require a combination of routine and some complex functions (e.g. client facing, customer service, trading teams).  Portfolio groups may have a large range of entry (including non-exempt roles) to professional level associates.  In addition, groups may have a greater selection of new managers and/or supervisors.  Role support mid-level to Managing Director level Managers across multiple locations, specifically San Diego (CA), Southlake (TX) and Omaha (NE)


The HR Business Partner must maintain an effective level of Company, industry and HR knowledge, including strategy, culture, employment law, regulatory/compliance, performance and talent management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related degree area
  • 3-5 years of related work experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner capacity
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
  • Customer service-driven orientation and solutions-driven focus
  • Proficient consulting and relationship management skills
  • Sound working knowledge of multiple HR functional disciplines (i.e. compensation, recruiting/talent acquisition, learning and development, employee relations, talent management, and performance management)
  • Broad technical knowledge in Employee Relations and ability to apply technical expertise to resolve a variety of routine to moderately complex issues
  • Ability to effectively identify, diagnose and troubleshoot problems that may arise
  • Ability to leverage data to assist management with talent and business decisions
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to build credibility and effective relationships with all Associate levels and across both the business and HR
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging participation of key stakeholders in the resolution of moderately complex employee issues
  • Effective leadership, management and coaching skills; excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration skills to effectively communicate and influence across all organizational levels
  • Sound negotiating, influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team and to successfully navigate changing priorities
  • Prior work experience in Financial Services a plus; experience supporting client facing business groups and customer service roles a plus
